    McCarty, the big white guy on the right, died in the ring during a fight with Arthur Pelkey. The fight was for the "White HW Championship of the World". He was only 22 yrs old.

    Thanks McVey! McCarty seems so much bigger than Jannette, doubt he beats him though.

    thanks! Lol, I had literally never heard of the white HW championship or it has slipped my memory completely.

    I dunno about that. Jeannette wasn't a consistent fighter, and McCarty was on the rise when he died. Clark has some skills.

    The odd thing is the best white hopes in Gun Boat Smith and McCarhty never got a chance. Smith clearly deserved it, McCarthy didn't live long enough. Willard was viewed as the 3rd best white hope. Would he have beaten Johnson in 1913 or 1914?

    There is no film on Luther McCarthy...I think. It would be rare.
