Jeff Fenech awarded belt from WBC for "victory" over Azumah Nelson?!!

As corrupt as you can get. Also a slap in the face for every fighter that have been robbed of a world title.

Love Fenech but this is a total farce. Opens a can of worms. Wouldn’t expect any less. Now can they take Lupe Pintor’s WBC bantamweight belt off him, change the Whitaker-Chavez result and Canelo-GGG I & II results etc;

 

Wait until he gets the bill for past due sanctioning fees.

 

So on the record books is it changed to a W for Fenech ?

 

I feel like this is just a desperate attempt to "change" history, make a right from wrong. But of all things why Fenech vs Nelson 1? Granted I thought Fenech won the first time but what makes him so special out of every other fighter that were also wrongfully robbed? Why not just change every single known robberies in boxing history while we're at it? You don't just award a title to a retired fighter just because he's been crying robbery for decades, it doesn't work that way.

 

So does that mean the late Tyrone Everett can expect a posthumous title after his 15 round robbery at the hands of the judges in the Alfredo Escalera fight? Or Armando Muniz can be awarded the welterweight title after the WBC robbed him of the title in his first fight with Jose Napoles? IMO both of those fights were worse robberies than the Fenech-Nelson fight. So why stop?

 

So, serious question, do they make Nelson a 3 time WBC 130 lb champion seeing as he KOd Fenech in the rematch?

WBC can give titles to whoever they want, there is basically no oversight, they can retroactively make Reggie Strickland the WBC Heavyweight champion if they want. They cannot, however change the result of that fight. Fenechs record still shows a draw.

 

When's his first defense scheduled for?

 

Yeah, Fenech already has enough titles, Everrett’s family I’m sure would appreciate a belt as I’m sure Muniz would too.
