Tim Tszyu has parted ways with long time trainer Igor Golubev and hired hall of famer former 3 weight world champion Jeff Fenech as his new head trainer.

Fenech was critical of Tim's team after the first Fundora fight and has thought they had done a bad job with Tim since then. It is hard to disagree with Fenech. Hopefully Fenech can improve and rebuild Tszyu's career it might be too late the damage could already be done but Fenech knows the game inside out so hopefully it works out.

Good to see that Tszyu is still serious about his career enough to change teams. Imo it needed to happen earlier, especially after the first Fundora fight.

Hopefully he still has enough in the tank to make a solid go of it.

Has Fenech done much coaching so far? He was a great boxer, but we know that doesn't necessarily translate into coaching as it is a different skill set.

Its hard to see where Zoo goes from here tbh.

Hes been destroyed by two LMWs ranked above him.

Does he really settle trying to pick up a belt? Or does Fenech truly believe he can bring back his aura of invincibility?

I think they said Fenech will have a mentor role and that he plans to go to states soon, to trial gyms and coaches.

Jeff has trained a lot of fighters with mixed success.

The Hussein brothers, Danny Green, Sakio Bika, Mike Tyson for a time, Vic Darchinyan, Brock Jarvis, Nader Hamden and others.
Recently did a bit of consulting kinda with Tyson Pedro, Jackson Murray.

Tim could end up being pretty badly hurt if he goes back in at the top of 154, especially against someone like Boots. I hope for his sake that fight never gets made. He doesn't have what it takes to operate at the top level. That Bakhram loss was horrible to watch; it should've been stopped much earlier. He could end up pretty badly hurt if he carries on too long, simply because of the way he fights and how bad he is defensively.

Tim Tszyu is 1-3 (2ko losses) in his last 4 fights and has been beaten up badly in those 3 losses. He also bent the knee in his last loss. I think he's gone from 30 to 40 in the past 2 years. He should be seriously questioning if he should even step in the ring again, not changing trainers.

Jeff appears half senile to me.

I can’t see this working but I hope I am wrong.

What if Tim is unteachable, like Amir Khan was?

I agree but maybe the new trainer can help him.

If his losses weren't all brutal where he lost pints of blood, got bounced up and down and then actually surrendered I would agree. A loss doesn't always mean hang em up. In this case though.............and they were all basically back to back to back.

Probably the last coach Tim needs stylistically.....Hopefully Jeffs role will be more about advice and guidance through the boxing game than boxing style.

Wise of Tim to hear Fenechs recent criticism of his team and see the comments were correct and coming from a good place.

Won't matter if Timmie still thinks he's a world class fighter. Stay in Australia and fight the locals; hopefully he can make a living wage and doesn't require massive medical help .

Glad Tim has pulled the changes, even though it might be argued that it is too late.

Interestingly, Tim's brother Nikita is staying with the old crew. Should Nikita lose to Zerafa, I wonder if he will also jump?

Fenech seems an odd choice to me and I'm not sure Fenech brings the skillset Tim needs for his particular situation.

If Fenech is an interim with someone from the States yet to be appointed, I commend his short-term appointment.

Tim can't afford any more bad choices at this stage.

Timmy needs to stay down under, the states aint good for his damn health.

he's 1-3 in the states and 24-0 in Oz lol, he doesnt travel well. Even in that one win in the states he struggled against gausha.

    some fighters dont travel well
