My grandad died this day in 1986. That said it was a pretty awesome Fenech display. He really dominated a quality opponent but Zaragoza did get better after this.
I scored this about a year or so ago. I had it closer than the 3 Aussie judges, but Jeff a clear winner. This is what I wrote: Jeff Fenech vs Daniel Zaragoza 10 rounds Round 1: 10-9 Fenech Round 2: 10-10 Even Round 3: 10-9 Fenech Round 4: 10-8 Fenech (point deducted from Zaragoza for low blow) Round 5: 10-9 Zaragoza Round 6: 10-9 Zaragoza Round 7: 10-9 Fenech Round 8: 10-9 Fenech Round 9: 10-9 Fenech Round 10: 10-9 Fenech Total: 98-92 Fenech (actual scores: 100-87, 100-91 and 99-89 all for Fenech) I should mention that Fenech was able to get away with a lot of rough stuff and it was laughable docking Zaragoza as opposed to what Jeff got away with.
Two of my favorites. Fenech was simply too strong and too busy for Zaragoza. I feel Zaragoza was better in his mid/late 30s.
