Fenech was never stopped south of Jr. Lightweight. Inoue is currently at Jr. Feather. Keep it real, Sidney! I would also take the view that all of his kayo defeats came well after he was past his best. Fenech is a guy who went to Las Vegas whilst the featherweight champ & boxed the reigning Light Welter champ over six rounds before assorted press. He used to spar with a reigning WBC Light Heavyweight champ. I mean, how would Inoue go against Bivol or Beterbiev? Prime Fenech isn't getting stopped by a Jr Feather, even one as good as Inoue. People forget that Fenech was heading for a fight with Pernell Whitaker for the Undisputed Lightweight championship if he'd got the decision against Azumah. He wouldn't have won b/c he was past his best by then but the best version of Fenech could be put in with just about anyone & would hold his own. If we're going to match Jeff & Inoue up, let's do it at Jr. Feather. I think this version of Jeffrey 'handles' Inoue. Applies the pressure & beats him down. This content is protected
One of the main problems Fenech has had as a trainer is that he tries to make all his guys train and fight like he used to but they just can't do it. Fenech was special.
This seems to happen to a lot of "one of kind" boxers. They just can't seem to understand what they did won't work for others. Roy Jones being another good example.
Yep I remember when Fenech was training Danny Green. Green was fighting iron chinned Kiwi journeyman Sean Sullivan and Green was going balls to the wall every round trying to stop him Sullivan took a hell of a beating but he wouldn't go down. By the end of the fight Green had dominated but he had expended so much energy that he was completely dehydrated and in the post fight interview he thought he had lost the fight I think he was taken to hospital straight after.
