Jeff beats him easy....Gaby would be a better fight...but Jeff wins that too!

Fenech us a monster at BW only a few I would actually favor over him. Donaire for sure. Maybe Harada, Mares and Marquez too

Fenech mauls him, although Canizales amazing skills would make it interesting for a short time.

Fenech UD, i agree with what others have said there are very few fighter's i'd pick over him at 118 and 122, in fact Gomez would probably be the only one at the latter.

Ain't no way in Hell I'm taking Fenech over Jofre at 118.

Maybe a weight drained Jofre, but certainly not the one we have on film stopping Medel. Two different levels, Jofre would take him apart.

I'm not taking Fenech peak versions of Olivares or Zarate either.

And yes, Gomez stops him at 122. Fenech might beat everyone else at 122 though

YES, there's a few i'd favour over him at 118 like the three you mentioned but at 122 i still say Gomez is the only one i'd pick with confidence over him and even he wouldn't have an easy time with Fenech at 122.

So Jeff stops Gomez, but someone he only wins a decision over the Philly crackhead? Makes sense.

Glad to hear it! The difference to me is Gomez will try to go to war, and Chandler likely won’t. I think Gomez and Fenech would be close but he would stop him late, similar to Sanchez/Nelson. In a 12 rounder I think I would have a hard time choosing between Gomez/Fenech but over 15 I think Fenech pulls away or stops him in 14-15

Edit: plus I think Fenech peaked at SBW/FW, and was better there. Although still a formidable bantam for any one ever

Edit 2: TBF I picked Chandler Fenech under a 12 round format based on score (wide Fenech) if I picked over 15 like I did here I might go with a late stoppage in that one as well

Not to sure about this- Canizales had subtle movement and he could crack enough to hurt Fenech.
Canizales if i had to pick one. I think he would give Fenech angles and counter off of rhem .And he had pretty good power- enough to make Fenech respect it.

    Philly,

I think you're underestimating prime Gomez's footwork and the fact that he'd be able to make Fenech miss and counter him with big shots. It sounds to me like you're describing the faded Gomez that went to war with Pintor, rather that the peak version that destroyed Zarate.

Fenech has a good chance of beating the Gomez that fought Pintor. He does not have a good chance of beating the Gomez that fought Zarate.

Fair enough mate. I feel the same thing in reverse that you are again overrating Gomez. I respect your opinion and like your posts. I can deal with the fact that we evaluate guys like Chandler, Gomez, Zarate slightly differently. Not trying to use triangle theory in anyway but in Fenech I see a guy good enough to beat Azumah (even though officially a draw) in Gomez I see a guy who can’t...I just see Fenech reaching heights at his best that eluded Gomez. I can’t think of anyone else (maybe if I look hard enough) that I would favor over Gomez at 122 for whatever it is worth
