I'm sure most of you guys will have seen this one round blowout by Fenech. But does anyone else thinks it looks very suspect? Now Fenech comes out and does not really do much but throws a jab to, what appears Avila's left nipple, he then swings a right to the body, but before it lands Avila is already on his way down holding his left ribs and starts rolling around on the floor, and does not get up. Also the commentator, I think Gus someone, immediatly shouts that it was a good body shot that hit him, and sent him downwards. And he seems to drive this point in, a little too much IMO as it did not really appear to have any meat on it, at all. However, it does seem a very odd fight to fix. Can anyone shed light on this?
Can't remember this one particularly. The bout lasted less than a minute, and the Gus you are referring to will in all likely-hood be Gus Mercurio - who passed away only recently. Aliva had a pretty ordinary record to be in with someone like the undefeated Fenech. It's notable also that Aliva had 2 years off after this fight.
no i dont think so. osmar wasnt a great fighter but he was a pretty tough little rooster. i might be wrong but im pretty sure he went the distance with michael carbajal. i think he felt the shot and realised what he was in for, he might have beaten the count but as for going in there with the specific intention of lying down? nah i cant see it.
I went to this fight,it was over very suddenly.i do not think it was a dive.fenech was on fire at this time.
He would not be the first or last Argentinian to come over and do this. If the mood strikes them they can be straight up pikers who only come for the cheque. It was likely a dive but not a fixed fight..makes no sense to end a fight that quick and **** all the punters off. He probably just didnt want to be there.
It was the "phantom" punch that got him, it was taught to Jeffery by non other than Iron Mike Tyson himself.. true story hahah
Just watched this video again.. in slo-mo. A left jab landed....just.. followed by a right to the body with absolutely nothing on it. DIIIIVE!!
Nonsense, Bobby. We know you're a notorious Fenech hater and will say anything to stain his name in any way, LOL! Seriously though i don't think it was a dive, i think he felt the shot and was hurt, perhaps could've continued, but decided against it once he felt the sheer presence of the monster that was Jeffro "luv yous all" Fenech. Why take a sustained beating he thought, collected his cheque and off home he went to the pampus. Never question body shots and top of the head equilibrium breaking head punches.
Dive. A ****ing left jab. Oh' and thank you for pointing out in your own post that he took a dive. Pay some attention to his behaviour on the ground. No equilibrium lost. Hater?? No. I just try to point out what blokes like you pretend not to see... i.e the Zarate fight.
