Fenech beat: Zaragoza Payakaroon Zárate (albeit well past his best) Callejas Villasana Martínez Nelson (regardless of the robbery draw) Coffee, Richardson and McCrory were also decent opponents. That's an incredible resume considering he only had 33 fights. With all that said I pick Sanchez to beat Fenech.
I don't think JF was as good as some make him out to be. I think Rocky was the better overall fighter and would beat him at Jr. Lightweight.
My question was rhetorical. The other poster chose not to answer this. Zarate was robbed out of that fight. Fenech'a style was amazing at his peak, too bad it doesn't last. 33 fights is a huge indicator of this.
So going into the second Nelson fight, did Jeff publicly acknowledge that he was doing blow and drinking and partying or was that after-result excuses? If you don’t accept Nelson having malaria, I’m not inclined to accept Jeff’s allegedly bad training habits unless someone can show me something going into the fight where it was known. In truth, I accept both. Nelson was malarial in the first fight and maybe Jeff wasn’t up to snuff in the second. But Nelson’s win was much more decisive. I give him the nod.
