I think Fenech was a legend as a boxer, & he also has great knowledge & technical skill with boxers as a trainer. The problem lies when the boxer takes things into his own hands & doesnt show his trainer the right sort of respect. Last week with Geale showed me the truth. Geale respects Fenech so much & takes his words on board. Whereas some of his past boxers (i think of Danny Green in particular) took things into their own hands sometimes, thus costing them matches. Others just werent good enough on the big stage. Hussein brothers come to mind.
As a boxer: one of our best ever. As a trainer: Underrated. I mean he is animated and gets fired up in the corner but he his knowledge of the fight game is also good. He seems to focus a lot more on the technical side of boxing than other trainers in oz, who just say "jab jab", "use the jab", "you have to throw more punches", though sometimes that doesnt materialise in the corner on the night. He does often use hindsight to belittle other trainers. As a person: Never met him but seems like a bit of a watchstealing, fruiterer bashing, bitter and narcissistic arsehole. But sometimes seems like a good bloke who is loyal and affable but expects it back no matter what.
Had to love him as a fighter,i grew up going to his fights with my uncle who ref'd him 5 or 6 times i still remember how upset i was when Grove absoloutly smashed his face in iv'e never seen so much blood come from any bodies nose before. As a person he is a moody sort of character, somebody who can be an arrogant rude up himself ***** but also somebody who can be one of the kindest nicest people you would ever meet,he's also extremley generous with his money and his time for charitys a lot of which is never reported to the media. But in saying that some of the things he's said and done have just made me sick:dead The guy lost a lot of respect from me when he threatened Danny with a law suit and started going on radio bad mouthing Danny yet wouldn't except and calls from Dan for months. Theres no doubt the guy is a ego maniac the other day he was on the radio bagging Salas saying how crap a trainer he is and how a jeff Fenech trained Danny Green would beat choc but he has no chance with his current trainer. It also drives me insane the way Jeff talks about himself as a third personatsch it's really creepy:yep
funny how all of his fighters all left him with bad blood. are they all the same,or is fenech the same to all of them-a cheating manipulative egomaniac!!!??? he says all the right things at the right time to the right people.get him with no cameras in his face and no one influentual around to impress and the true fenech shines out. he has no respect from decent people who see through the plastic gangster.
:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl I like Jeff , he is a ****in champ!! Nobody is perfect, he came from nothing to a 3 time world champ. And who hasnt stolen something before??? yeah you can say about his age, but, come on, he put the ****in watch back!!!! He is good for aussie boxing, if you dont agree with that...... your dont know ****.
The question i would like to ask you is..... Seeing you are around the domestic boxing scene a fair bit how would you act if standing right next to Jeff?? Very interesting???? Seeing you think he is a tool..
Jeff has made mistakes that everyday people make..Be that theft, assault etc.(not saying they are exceptable.) Hes only human.. Where as Bin Laden is a pure maggot..Nothing can be said otherwise. Please dont ever bring up that name again.
He's an Aussie ATG as a boxer. He's one of Australia's top trainers, but unfortunately his trophy cabinet shows no evidence of this, as his fighters never seem to be able to win their title fights - I'm not going to try and understand why this is so, all I can say is what I've seen of him in action in the corner during big fights has been pretty good, obviously there are more factors at work behind the scenes that we don't know about. However, he has trained a lot of fighters who have managed to make a bit of noise at international level, so he must be doing something right. As a person, well, I've never met him, but from the headlines he's made since retiring from boxing certainly don't put him in a favourable light. I suspect he is probably involved in a lot of shady stuff, which makes him a dodgy person in my opinion, meaning he is not someone I would place my trust in on a personal level.
@ 118-122 jeff fenech goes bloody well with any of the greats(over 15 even better)...the other stuff...if its true i feel sorry for ya jeff u gave us good nights...if not good on ya and try stay outta trouble mate:good :bbb
