Yet they assigned a ref from New York for his fight with Ottke - that was good of them!

Neil was a very good boxer. He fought everybody. Was a very well schooled guy and had a very good amateur background before turning pro. He was supposed to fight Martin Ross at Marrickville who pulled out 2 days before the fight. I had stopped training and was going to start again in the coming new year. Roy Carroll rung me at work to see if I would take the fight. I did and I honestly thought I was lucky to get away with a draw. Neil got away with the early rounds and I had a real struggle catching him. I finished winning the last few rounds which help me escape with the draw.

Excellent read mate. Nothing's ever a straight line in the fight game.. Looking at the DRW, I wondered about the result and what influenced it.. There you go, clarified. He is unheard of now... I wonder how he's going? Cheers.

Its funny you mentioned him because after he drifted away from boxing I dont recall anybody mentioning him. I have a few friends from Townsville so I will try and check up on him in the near future.

Same. I'd like to do a story on him.. Be an enjoyable one to write, especially with the names connected to his career. Other than that, he's completely silent.

    Flash,

Noticed you are back on deck this morning.

Have read your thoughts on the Melb Storm fiasco, but have you any boxing news for ESB?

Ash is not about for a few days. So somebody has to ask the HARD questions in his absence!

    Cheers.

CHB I honestly dont think they know at the moment what is happening. I am going to Sydney next week so I will know whats going on once I get there. The purse bid next week will determine exactly witch direction they are headed. I just hope we win the purse bid. At least that gives us a title shot against someone who is credible. Although the guys here will not agree.

Don't think you'll get too many complaints (even from here) with Golovkin as the next opponent.

As usual a few names have done the rounds here, and some of the others probably wouldn't be met with much enthusiasm.

If I had the choice to decide I would of fought the WBA Interim 154lb guy from Japan. He wins that fight without a problem and then fights the winner of Miguel and Yuri Foreman in New York. By winning those fights he then has the chance to unify with either Chavez jnr or Antonio Margarito. I just think that Sturm will always be regarded as the WBA middleweight champion. And rightfully so. Maybe thats why I just do the training.

You are correct about the 40 odd posters here part, but the post you've pulled up was made yonks ago! At the time Green was genuinely trying to land big fights.
