I mean, he isn't terrible. He does have decent wins at domestic level in Ekundayo, Godding and Butler. Pre-Pacquiao he would've been a reasonable opponent for Horn.

 

True. Bypassing Skeete for Corcoran is a bit inexcusable.

 

Big wack of government money to be collected by putting on a football stadium fight with Pac or Crawford next year.

Only a fool would leave that on the table by putting Horn in with someone who stands a chance of beating him in the meantime.

 

Big let down after a monumental win. Upset can happen and derail the gravy train.

 

Classic example of the problems of the 4 title era

 

No surprise, Horn is a bum and is releasing a book around Christmas time about his life so losing his paper title would be harmful to that. Also his team know that he would lose to any legit top 10 fighter under the age of 35.

Yup, pure economics. He has the Paquiao rematch coming up and no promoter would take more than a %20 chance on losing that.

 

As someone mentioned above, it's boxing & the best laid plans can come unstuck irrespective of how risk averse you are in choosing an opponent.

But yes, I think it's sensible to attempt to preserve what could be a couple of football stadium fights next year for Horn.

Pac is one & if Horn wins or Pac doesn't front, Crawford could be another.

Tell everyone in Australia that Crawford is the best P4P fighter in the game & people will turn up.

 

Sure he could of picked somebody higher ranked or more dangerous but looking at the big picture Corcoran is okay for a first title defence. Pacquio knocked back fighting again this year so Horn would be crazy to risk losing out on the big money rematch and I am sure most would do the same in his spot. Its fairly common for champions to pick an easier first defence and Corcoran who is top 10 ranked by WBO isn't the worst fighter to get a title shot. I pick Horn to win fairly easy and then fight Pacquio or a bigger name next year, but if he doesn't fight somebody better after this I will call him out for it like others

 

Surely you can't defend such a disgraceful title fight especially for the fact that in most peoples opinions Horn didn't deserve to win the title in the first place.

 

Get some new material.
