Wait, am I misremembering how that's used colloquially over there? Would you say half noon for 11:30am or 12:30pm? If the latter, ignore my post from before, the main event is at 11:30am GMT.
I mean, yes Corcoran is a voluntary tuneup (WBO #10) and sort of a lame one if viewed in a vacuum - and nobody held a gun to Jeff's head and said "you must skip over your mandatory and the next eight men in line" - but I think, sandwiched in between Manny freaking Pacquiao and Terence freaking Crawford, we can all give Horn a break for keeping the blood pumping with a Corcoran defense.
Considering Horn stole the title via robbery he shouldn't be making a defense in the first place the WBO should have forced an immediate rematch in the Philippines. This fight between Horn and Cocoran is making a mockery of the sport.
Nobody else remembers this? It was all but written in stone that Pac vs. Provo was happening, as soon as the latter smashed through some FNF level feather-fist whose best win to date (by FAR) was B-grade Tranzformer? Ruslan was perceived as this invincible force at the time, coming off beating Alvardo and nearly kayoing an overly brave Bradley - and Pac was to be the immovable object. Instead it turned out to be Algieri, and he launched himself into the spotlight/into financial success far beyond what even his biggest fans in Huntington N.Y. ever dreamed/into the path of Pac's fists/into a downward spiral of ruin.
Had similar issues with my Chinese friend recently. Half noon = half-past noon, i.e. 12:30. But surely the same in America?
We say it but always include the word past, or use "after". We pretty much never omit the qualifying word and just say half whatever, that's a uniquely Brit (or perhaps more broadly Commonwealth of Nations) thing I believe. I couldn't remember if you all did half (implied) before the hour or half (implied) after.
Consider me educated. Though "half noon" isn't something we really say, just "half twelve", with the am/pm inferred from context. Anyway, thanks again.
You are wasting your time reasoning with MP about Jeff Horn. He hates him with a passion and calls him dirty fighter yet worships Andre Ward and would eagerly give him a rusty trombone if Ward would let him.
That is the strangest thing about MP loooves AW who would have to be pretty much the king of dirty fighting but thinks Horn is a dog for the same reason..
