Jeff Lacy is a completely destroyed and shot fighter

After the beating he took from Calzaghe I'm really not surprised tbh. A loss like that must be absolutely confidence shattering.

 

he had it put him to him that he was the greatest the next tyson and could beat anyone. he though he was going to KO JC in his home town.

then he stepped in the ring against the best SMW fighter ever at his peak and JC showed lacy that he did not belong in the same arena never mind the same ring. he left that ring with nothing he got beat from the start of round 1 till the end of round 12 and got put on his ass also. everyone around him left him and said he was never good.
Boxers live on confidence and after that fight his was shattererd if he had won 2 or 3 rounds and it had been somewhat competative then maybe he would not be as bad as he is today.

it is a shame he could have been a good fighter he was a good fighter

 

Could you elaborate on that? Who exactly left him?
Do you have a source where you learned this. Sounds pretty bad and serious if this is the case.

His cornermen should have pulled him out at some point - I think it was Dan Birmingham.

Compare him to Amir Kahn in a few years- who suffered a humiliating KO - but it was quick and not protracted like Lacy suffering for about 50 minutes. I reckon Khan can come back and do something for a prolonged period. Moreover, Lacy was someone you think was kind of someone who was physical in his approach to the world - not too much upstairs - just use my brute force type of guy.

 

If he didn't want to still fight he would have gotten TKO'd by Taylor , he fought hard till the end... was just outclassed .. The Real fact of the matter is that he is and always has been just a crude slugger...

If he didn't want to fight, he would have retired after that surgery

 

DID ANYONE HERE SEE LACY'S FIGHT WITH OMAR SHEIKA, BEFORE HE FOUGHT JOE CALZAGHE??

He was never very good, that's the truth, the beating from Calzaghe didn't change that it merely highlighted it. His shoulder injury has meant he has been a less effective puncher in the last couple of years, but he was never much to begin with, merely the product of media hype because he had a good punch initially.

 

I've heard stories about his days in the gym with RJJ, Tarver, AK47 etc... I don't think he was all that much to begin with.

 

He obviously has a lot of heart, but belief in ability was annihilated that night against happy slapping man from the valleys. What a horrible basta*!.

I don't even know how to respond to this. He was good enough to get a belt in his 17th fight (knocking out Syd Vanderpool, which Hopkins couldn't even do) and already have some defenses, then the Calzaghe fight happens, and he's reduced to getting questionable wins over Peter Manredo and there's no correlation?

I know Calzaghe's not getting any Christmas cards from you anytime soon, but that's just taking the **** to a whole other level.

The first time I saw him was vs Vanderpool and it took only a few seconds to see that he was far from a technician but instead a brawler with an iron will.

Do you think Jeff "Left Hook" Lacy's shoulder surgery has had more or less to do with his recent downswing in form than losing on points to Joe Calzaghe?
