Jeff Lacy is and always was an overhyped and highly mediocre boxer.

A loss to Calzaghe. A poor showing after Calz. A shoulder injury followed by two more poor showings and a loss to JT.

Calzaghe may have taken the spirit from Jeff but the people around him have done nothing to instill the fire back in him. He left Dan Birmingham before the Mendoza fight and went back to a guy who told him after the 10th round last night Taylor "This guy doesn't wanna fight! He just wants to wrap you up!" I don't think its the fighter as much as the clowns he employed.

I still say that Lacy only became overrated after he lost to Calzaghe. So Calzaghe's abilities are in question then? No they're not! We all know Calzaghe is an opportunist but he beat Jeff at the top of his game. Lacy is not an over-hyped fighter because nobody thought he was gonna win last night. I only picked him because he's a friend . . . and I wasn't betting on the fight. He has never been overrated. Limited? Yes. Always has been. Ruined(By Joe C.)? Perhaps, but the only thing he didn't do that everybody wanted to see him do was beat Joe Calzaghe. Something that no one, to this point, has been able to do.

He was overrated going into the Calzaghe fight, but he was world-class.Vanderpool tko8,Reid tko8 and Pemberton tko2 were all good wins at the time.Lacy is not world class anymore the likes of Sakio Bika and Librado Andrade would beat him fairly easily.

He was overrated when he fought Calzaghe but he was still a pretty decent boxer. Calzaghe took a lot out of Lacy that fight and that victory should not be too diminished.

Its funny, prior to the leadup to that fight, most were predicting a Lacy ko. Oh how times have changed.

Lacy hasn't been the same since the shoulder injury....before that Lacy had enough brute strength and power to at least keep a strap....nowadays he doesn't have it, but an injury like that can do that do you....

The reason he's damaged goods is Calzaghe, that can't be denied.

Don't put down Taylor because he couldn't beat Pavlik who is the number one middleweight in the world and is a good fighter. I agree that Lacy was mediocre and never really good. If he was any good he would of atleast won a round against Calzaghe.

Lacy is the reason why joe should not fight dawson next, let dawson grow for a year an then fight him, he fought lacy to early, an lacy is now being called over rated,,,no lacy was an above average fighter, going into the calzahe fight i had him a p4p top 20 fighter, but the beating he took, his corner should threw in the towl after the 7th, his corner ruined his boxing career, lacy he going to die a few years early cause they let him get his ass beat to death,,,,,,,,lacy should of took a year off an fought DOGS for another two years, before even trying to step up title level,,,,,LACY IS KNOW DONE, but he was very good till joe got into the ring with him

  14. :D 2005 absolutely ruined Jeff. A bunch of bums rolled over without putting up much of a fight and Jeff got carried away with lifting and getting pose ready for a photo shoot at Muscle Magazine. He was too stiff to box well as 2005 ended.

Jeff Lacy is overrated but his promoters and management were very poor. Instead letting him develop his skills and take on some decent opponents not just bums then he might be alright. But they stuck him in there with a experience high class fighter and guess what he got dominated and embarrassed. That's what happens when you have hot young hot prospect like Jeff that you build up to be this big superstar but dont give him any decent competition to hone his skills. As soon they face someone good majority of time they get their ass whoop unless they are very talented and just a natural gifted athlete. Also the injury didn't help Jeff either so it kinda sucks for him.
