Former IBF super middleweight champion Jeff Lacy, expected to face former Olympic teammate Jermain Taylor on November 15, now says he's retiring. "There will be no fight between me and Jermain," Lacy told the Tampa Tribune. "I'm just retiring," he said. "I'm done. This business is dirty. That's all I have to say. This is a very dirty business. I would advise anyone who has kids not to ever let them fight in this business." Lacy (24-1, 17 KOs), who won a hard fought ten round majority decision over Epifiano Mendoza on Wednesday, did not go into specifics.

WHY OH WHY? He's just come off a win and was talking like a renewed fighter before that fight...now all of a sudden its a dirty business and he wants no more of it? Somethings happend...has he just got discouraged by his last 2 performances, or has he been stitched up financially and loest heart?

Pretty sure he'll come back though after the dust settles...and he realises he cant do much else to make a good living.

Joe Calzaghe snatched his heart out of his chest. He is now heartless...what can he do except make excuses for his own inadequacies???

He should at least fight Taylor and if he were to get beaten badly then he should consider retirement.

He sounded pissed, maybe hes getting screwed around behind the scenes, thats the impression i get. Shame really, the heavy loss and then the shoulder injury changed him as a fighter and hes not been the same since!

Posted already, but I think he's just making up excuses to detract away from the fact he was guaranteed an all but certain ass whoopin' his next time out the gate. Here's how the process likely went down:

Jeff no likey-likey ass whoopin'. Jeff need get out of fight somehow. Jeff think hard. Jeff no fiind answer. Jeff scratch head . . . Jeff scratch ass. Jeff think even harder this time. Jeff find solution. Jeff conjure up so-called "frustration" with boxing "business" (because no one before Jeff has mentioned that there are some unsavory characters in boxing and you WILL deal with underhanded individuals. As we all know this is largely undocumented). Jeff not sharpest tool in shed. Take Jeff 26 fight to stumble upon shocking revelation and reveal it to world. Jeff ride off into sunset lookin' like man of principle with head held high instead of go into next fight and get beat like *****. Jeff outsmart you.
