Don't know much about Lacy and there a few different opinions about him but I think you guys shouldn't put so much weight on the Omar Henry sparring match. You have to assume that boxing is a small part of Nick's MMA training, he would obviously focus more on it for this fight and change his style.
Lacy should do this easy enough. Hope Nick doesn't go into boxing though. For MMA standards he has decent boxing skills. For boxing they are **** poor.
Money talks at the end of the day and thats what Diaz wants. They wont risk one of MMA's finest against Lacy.
If Lacy can pull together any kind of performance up through his KO of Pemberton, this becomes very interesting and favors him. It will become a chess match with Diaz getting hurt early and looking to avoid getting KTFO...and just a question of time until he does. If Lacy's performance is anything like what he's put up since then (and that's a long time) I heavily favor Diaz to use movement and short pot-shotting flurries to cut up Lacy's face en route to a UD or even late corner/referee stoppage.
His shoulder is ruined. He has no chance of returning to pre-Tsypko form. Power is the last thing to go with age. It's the first thing to go with catastrophic injury.
I like nick diaz.. the fact that hes a champ in MMA and he wants to fight a pro boxer, That takes balls!
Lacy is willing to fight him and even said he will prefer to beat Diaz in his own game. The real truth Dana and his boys are the scare ones, they have already requested a hearing/meeting face to face with Diaz. It will perhaps get stop or the only way is by signing Lacy to fight in the cage, I dont know if they want to risk one of their hottest names with a winning streak with someone that has been irrelevant to boxing in years.
Diaz had some coconuts for even doing this. Lacy might be at the bottom end these days but he is still a boxer and knows how to fight. I don't care about the result but it should be interesting.
Honestly it has to do more with Dana White and his team. A lot of these guys involve in MMA know the truth about boxing since they were responsible for training and making some of the biggest fights in boxing once. They know who to avoid which basically is most boxing fighters I think these MMA guys will not mind stepping in the ring, but most likely that will ruin their image and ruin Dana's marketing he has work so hard with his team. Tim Sylvia learn the hard way
I am a Diaz fan and Lacy will destroy him. Diaz would have a shot at Cotto but can't make the weight.
