No, I HAD heard of his opponents. And seen them, on multiple occasions. I've seen Pemberton almost get knocked cold by Sheika on more than 1 occasion. A 35 year old version of Pemberton, who was never that good to begin with. Who else? Rubin Williams, who, despite being as limited as hell, managed to take half the rounds in his fight with Lacy before getting stopped. The man felt the need to fight for (and defend several times!) the IBU Intercontinental "title". Nothing else needs to be said on him. If I'm going to be fair, Lacy's beating Syd Vanderpool wasn't bad, but he made soooo little progress since then.
Um....no. He hasn't really proven his top-class credentials at all. Andrade was better than anyone Lacy has ever beaten. So is Siaca nad Mundine. And even Beyer (a badly faded Beyer) was better than everyone apart from maybe Vanderpool. In short, Kessler has the far more convincing body of work. Lacy struggled against a version of Sheika in decline. That's probably enough said. Lacy's power has probably always been overrated and Pavlik, despite his questionable chin, is probably technically good enough (and with fast enough hands) to do the job.
If you want to be technical about who has Pavlik beaten beside Taylor ? Again Lacy has 1 loss against the best 168 pounder today, Pavlik has not shown that he poses the same Skill level as Joe. I feel that Pavlik come forward and punch style will not be effective against the bigger, stronger 168 pound version of Lacy .
Who has Lacy beaten that's even within a stratosphere of Taylor's ability? Don't get me wrong, I think Pavlik struggles too, due to the fact they both like to come forward and the fact Lacy's naturally bigger and stronger. Luckily though, for Pavlik, he has a jab. A good one. That and I just think very little of Lacy.
These guys you just named just got on the super middleweight scene. Beyer couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag ... Mundine isn't a legit champion because he lost to the real champ Kessler and got a bull **** WBA regular title. Those guys also are world class 168 pounders (that Lacy faced) If Lacy's power is overrated then why don't you take a shot from him to the face with your hands down. Kessler beat unknowns en route to fighting Mundine, Beyer, and Calzaghe ... You can't name 5 former/current champions that Beyer fought ... he was losing to Sakio Bika at the time of the TD. Andrade's no balance having ass could never win a title and his only world class opposition to date was Kessler.
Irrelevant speculation, that might drastically change come April 19..... Can you name a more accomplished fighter than J.T. that Kessler has beaten ?
No, but I can use my eyes to see the disparity in skill between the two. Don't care much for accomplishments on paper myself as criteria on their own, they can be very misleading. "I think J.T. beats Kessler...." isn't equally irrelevant speculation? :huh
