The simple fact you mention a fighter's lack of punching power and equate it to a lack of ability means I shouldn't continue this. Go away.
What ?!? since when has Pavlik Proven he can Handle any of the top 5 168. and weather or not you think Sheika was in decline or not , Sheika can still bring power and a chin. You talk as though Pavlik has proven himself at 160 and he's a shoe in to beat anyone at 168 , If pavlik ever decides to move to 168, he going have to bring a different game plan then the one he's using at 160 , because the 10 168 pounder hit just as hard as pavlic if not harder , all of them have decent hand speed and we all know the top 5 can take some dame good shots .. Lacy's power and Chin is far better then Taylors on a bad day and he is a better finisher also , the Pavlik that was hurt against Taylor would not have made it out of that round with any of the Top 5 168 pound Lacy included . again when Pavlik shows that he can use angles and speed and box as effective as Joe then come back and talk to me about who I think would win , but as of right now his forward moving style would suit the bigger punching lacy just fine.
No did say that ... I said that Beyer has no power which would in turn cause Lacy to be more aggressive and walk through whatever Beyer is throwing. Beyer a southpaw would eat alot of right hands (Kessler KO'd him with a right) and end with his demise. You're just mad because you have nothing to counter my points ... I'm right and if you thought you were right you would explain
I don't see Pavlik beating Bute ... Pavlik though good in his own right, is methodical, stiff, and has no head or shoulder movement. He made no adjustments against Taylor and looked worse than he did in the first fight.
your over confidence Pavlik and your under estimation of Lacy is misplaced. Taylor's ability ? I don't taylor can beat Lacy ether . The fact remains who did Lacy lose too? it not like he lost to some bum and you talk as though pavlik skill set is on par with Joe's .. fact is Pavlik is a small wrecking ball at 160 , Lacy is a bigger wrecking ball at 168 with a better chin and power. the fight would still lean towards lacy .
It's not irrelevant, it's just speculation. If B-Hop wins on April 19 lots of thoughts will change.....like the assumption by some that J.T. could not beat Kessler....
Come on, don't tell me you buy into the "A beats B beats C therefore A beats C" mentality, disproven many times over?
I don't buy into anywhere close to 100%..... it has its flaws but it's certainly better than the method you advocated.....e.g., watching fighter A fight B and watching fighter C fight D and making a conclusion based on "what you see" namely that fighter A can beat fighter C where there are no opponents in common.
I think the prime (2005) version of Lacy matches up well with Pavlik and should be a slight favorite to stop him. Lacy would not be pushed backward by Kelly, and Jeff threw both hooks and uppercuts that would find the mark on the inside. Pavlik has a good jab and OK skills, but he certainly is not the athlete or craftsman Calzaghe is. As evidenced by Pavlik/Taylor II, Kelly also is fairly easy to time. Taylor, who never has exhibited much in the way of timing, consistently landed clean shots. Kelly's defense is OK when he's set, but he is slow bringing his punches back, and that's the moment that can be exploited. Someone such as Lacy, with more power, aggression, shorter punchers and a far better workrate than Taylor, could take him out. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that version of Lacy is gone. He doesn't appear to have the confidence, and his chin and shoulder also have been softened up. Nowadays, Pavlik TKO 8.
Hopkins will intimidate Calzaghe and Calzaghe will show him a ton of respect. If Calzaghe can get over the war of nerves he might be able to get the decision. No knockouts or knock downs on Calzaghe's half -- Hopkins being Hopkins will be 100% focused and will bring his "A" game against the undefeated Calzaghe. Calzaghe by slim decision ... I used to think this was going to be a blowout but looking at Hopkins track record against good fighters ... he's only lossed to RJJ. I see Hopkins making an impact ...
