Just spoke with Jeff personally, Caballero's people contacted him yesterday to see if he would be able to train him, and he accepted. Looks like "Jazzy" Jeff will be Celestino's head trainer from now on. Regarding potential Lopez bout: "Caballero is 5'11", and a southpaw. I will make him beat Lopez" WAR CABALLERO! :bbb
Who was the guy who was in his corner when he demolished Molitor? Cause that seemed to be working fairly well... Jeff's a good trainer though at the very least it shouldn't do him any harm.
If JML ducks him with some excuse in January I will lose all respect for the man especially after all the smack talk Caballero has dished out. :bbb
He said Juan Ma shits in his pants AND wears a skirt? Thats worse than any thing Ali ever said to Frazier.
I would say the things Ali said to/about Frazier cut deeper than Caballero's juvenile remarks and had far more of an impact than skirt-wearing remarks ever could.
Bad idea. Horrible timing. He's most likely going to go straight against JuanMa, and for his biggest challenge to date, he's going in with an untested team? Training under Jeff is cool, but there are so many ways it can go wrong, and there's the language barrier. I don't think a single camp can bring major improvements while style changes without a 'test fight' can be disastrous. Also, it's very likely that Celestino will be in a tough fight, and in tough fights, the trainer-fighter relationship, the mental support, the bond and history becomes very important, yet if trouble hits you, the last thing you want is this 'new guy' talking to you through an interpreter instead of having your old master calming you down and telling what to do. It's a good idea but not a good timing.
