Funny thing, Rob - earlier you tried to insinuate I haven't had sex in a long time. As if to have more sex is a good thing. yet the Bible says that sex without the intent to procreate is a sin. It also says that promiscuity is a sin.

You also told us that you have slept with many women, more than Billy Nelson at least. So, did you sleep with all of them to procreate, or just to shoot your load?

If it was the latter, then I'm sorry champ, you're going to hell.

I don't know Flea particularly well other than on here and a few emails, but he's got a similar outlook on life to me. I'm not depressed. I'm actually quite happy - my life is my own, I've got money, I'm going on dates with nice girls usually every week, my job's good fun, my hobbies are taking off for a new career possibly... and none of that has anything to do with religion.

One of the teachers at my school was deeply religious and, after retirement, was prosecuted for being a **********. Go figure.

That's fine Rob. Enjoy your happy delusion then. I'd rather be depressed then have to let a fictional character into my life to be 'happy'.

As DFT said, you're going to Hell anyway you flirt.

 If i would have spoken to my mother like Flea did to his, she would have drop kicked me and kicked my arse from here to Penge, and shes only 4ft 10.

In ragard to the religious debate, I feel Dave has it spot on here, particulalrly regarding the religion is not the basis of morality comment.

Rob also has a fair point, in that religion, and faith in general, has been tarnished by man. Nowhere in a book of faith does it say to get into an areoplane and crash it into a building.

I certainly believe in a higher power, and i'm comfortable admitting that. For those that dont, that is their loss IMO. I dont care they dont believe, and i dont care if they think i'm a twat for believing.

Obviously dinosaur bones are simply the remains of ancient demons who waged a war against the angels of heaven. Similarly, ancient hominid remains are diseased humans or the results of unholy 'dalliances' with chimpanzees.

I agree that children should learn about ALL religions while at school, including the criticisms and where logic and reason must be suspended in favour of faith in order to believe them.

Religion should not be taught at as fact, and should be taught along the lines of 'some people in the world believe this, however the empirical evidence actually says . . .'

No, the laws of most societies are based on common human decency with a view to creating a society in which we'd like to live, both of which predate the world's religions. Many religions simply emphasised these standards in their holy texts. They're all pretty common sense.

If you was around before religion it would be just as clear as any other time in history that ideally you'd like to live somewhere without murder, theft, **** etc. The only problem was enforcing these standards, which is where religion and the concept of hell come in . . .

The pushing of religion in schools really grinds my gears. My little girl goes to a local Primary school and they really push Christianity. It's not a Catholic school or anything, it's your run of the mill primary.

She's forever telling me about God and wanting to pray before dinner, and she keeps questioning me on how God does this and that. My approach is always that I'm an atheist, but she is free to believe what she wants, but I won't encourage her to take any particular direction. She could follow any religion as far as I care, but to be led down one very specific path by the poeple that are supposed to be educating her? Wrong in my opinion.

Yeah solid point there Rob, I've often had atheists question my faith and when we debate soon as it comes on top for them and they haven't go a answer they fling it out.

I'm happy with my belief, Things that have happened in the word and some of people that have found Christ as they savior and the works of the lord give me 100% faith. Not everyone can or wants to be part of God's Kingdom.

I don't like what this country's become but that's for another debate and another day.

    :deal

Teaching religion to children is hard to distinguish from child abuse as far as I'm concerned. Terrifying children with the threat of eternal damnation in hell does not sit right with me. Not to mention teaching them from a young to ignore evidence, logic and reasoning in favour of blind faith.

    That's ****ed up.

Absolutely right - most sociologists who studied ancient civilisations believe that religion was originally used as a tool to enforce laws around property, marriage, etc and stop people revolting and killing each other all the time.

Plus it protected the rich and powerful's money and property. Nothing's changed!

Morality and law CREATED organised religion, not the other way around. There were laws against murder before the Bible even existed!

I was quite precocious and as I say my parents are open-minded and have always allowed me to think for myself.

But the singing of Hymns? Reciting of the Lords Prayer?! I actually cannot believe this was only like (what year did I leave infant school...?) umm...15,16 years ago. Madness, can't believe they got away with it.

The Jehovahs were allowed to sit outside. They had the right idea, even if they didn't nahmsayin'?!?
