Depends how much they smoke.

Given that I've never had one I don't know what state a joint or five joints will put you in..... if someone has the equivalent of a four pack of lager a couple of times a week I wouldn't say that's a ''depressed'' or unhappy person.

People can suffer from depression and not be drinkers, smokers or druggers, or have a junk food diet or be crap with the ladies.

The person who gets pissed most days and pretends everything is hunky dory is most probably just unhappy/insecure deep down - they do it to make them feel better or make people think differently of them, in my experience.
