Good post. So the Bible is more of a moral guide for you? Gods teachings, if not necessarily laid out in the best fashion. Is that fair to assume?

 

Do you not trust the Pope, Rob? Not a fan?

Because Papal Infallability means he can never be wrong. And surely he's reppin' the Bible? So of the bible is not always accurate, does that mean Christianity is inherently flawed and you might be best off retaining your spirituality whilst taking up a different religion???

i wouldnt say its a case of not trusting. i do beleive he can be wrong.

Christiany has allot of flaws. I don't let it affect my faith.

Many of the critiques put forward in this thread are questions i have asked myself and some i didnt even no about. but it doesnt change my faith.

between 17 and 23 i did not attend mass. i was not a happy person at the end of the period. I am now.

my faith does people no harm. its a shame that others does.

and you still cannot prove God does not exist.

 

That is the main point for me. Every person is free to believe whatever it is they want, I honestly believe that if your faith can better you as a person then more power to you. But it's when people use their faith as a means of causing pain or anguish that it infuriates me, and I don't just mean terrorism. The ****s with picket signs at soldier's funerals being a key example.

 

yeh. it happens with all faiths. people have a lack of understanding. with the extreme examples you have given and with minor ones. everytime i got to mass theres people talking through it, texting all that kind of stuff. I dont let it affect my faith. accepting it has been the best thing to ever happen to me.

when you guys pick things out of the bible. your taking the bad 5%. if you read the whole thing you would find some of the most beautiful things, and stuff that you agree with and can relate to your life whether you believe in life or not.

its a bit like us with a boxer. they can do everything great but throw one shot not correct and we slate them lol

 

So what? You can't disprove the existence of something which, unlike the natural sciences, doesn't submit to any standard/criteria by which it may be falsified or refuted. And this is a badge of honour?

Hilarious - you can't offer ANY proof there's a God. No one was there when the Earth was created, there are no reliable sources of how the Earth began, no mention in the Bible of the Big Bang, no mention of dinosaurs, nothing to corroborate any of the details (and you need to account for the "crazy" books that were excised from the Bible as the centuries went on)...

No evidence whatsoever of a Divine Being. Other than what a book says.
