    There will be no rematch:

"There will not be a Brian Vera-Andy Lee II. Vera’s promoter, Jeff Wald of the television “Contender” group, told ESPN.com: “Not a chance on God’s earth… No reason to. Lee doesn’t mean anything. There is no upside to a rematch. There are better fights out there for Brian. There are more meaningful opponents. I’m very proud of what Brian did because nobody gave him a chance. Why should we do a rematch? What for? There’s better money elsewhere

lol, I thought the same thing too. I didn't know there was an actual guy named "Wald".

As for the actual story, it's pretty hilarious that Vera's camp is saying there's no point in a rematch. I don't think they feel that good about his chances in it if they're dismissing it so quickly. It's almost like they forgot he was losing the damn fight before the stoppage. If they mean bigger names as in they're going to try to go after Pavlik, I hope they're getting paid well now because I think Pavlik would ruin him.

Sorry Rock, but it was Lee who was losing the fight. He was still 1 point ahead because of the 10-8 first round, but round 3 was the last round he won. Here's a link to a good analysis.

Lee was 3 points up on two cards and 5 on another , he was clearly winning the fight .
I had Lee winning every round till the 7th , although the 4th was close .

You're the only person I've seen who had the fight so close , Atlas had it 59-54 at the time of stoppage .

Vera would have won the 7th 10-8 but that still leaves Lee ahead on all cards and only needing to survive while losing all rounds to get a draw on one .

I doubt they'll go after Pavlik, but a former contender with a decent win usually means they can get a big money fight. Mora parlayed a win over Eric Regan into a million-dollar bout with Taylor. Manfredo parlayed a win over Pemberton into a big money fight against Calzaghe. Forbes parlayed a win over Panchito into a fight against DLH. Gomez parlayed a win over a shot Gatti into a fight against Cotto. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Vera can turn this into a fight against Winky Wright, who will need to take an easy fight soon just to shake off some rust.

Vera's handlers have to know he probably loses against the next good fighter he faces. They have one shot and one shot only to get Vera some big money. Now that some sanctioning bodies will likely rank Vera in their top 15, he can get a shot against a big-name fighter, possibly even on a BAD-type card. His handlers would be ******ed to rematch him against Lee when there isn't any money behind that fight. Once someone else beats Vera, THEN let Lee have his rematch. In the meantime, they need to go for the money, because this might be the last time he'll be able to get it.

Obviously I'm not the only person who saw it that way. Read the article! Most people bought into the Andy Lee hype, and saw what they wanted to see. I watched the fight twice and saw exactly what the author of the article saw. Even Steward admitted the judges scores were bogus.
