McGrain posted this (from his photobucket) a few months ago.

Does anyone know the source and date for this clipping?

Another quote about Jack Johnson that people might like.

In 1912 the British Admiralty discussed increasing the calibre of gun on their largest battleships from 13.5'' to 15''. The question was finaly resolved by First Sea Lord Jackie Fisher who said:

"What was it that alowed Jack Johnson to knock out his opponents? It was the big punch."

I don't know anything about that clipping actually. Someone else posted it before I did - I can't remember who.

I believe the NY times had it in the paper right after fight I believe I saw it in Areprint of their famous Sports stories . I could swear I also saw it in Nat Fleischer book 25 years at ringside. Nat traveled by train with Johnson after he bested Jeffries.:good
