wlads jab and what happens in the clinch could well decide this fight.

i have to admit to surprising myself and having an early inclination to favour wlad to take a ud

I dont know if jeffries realy had the pace to break vlad down. sure Jeffries had staying power and could chugg away all night but not a breathtaking high work rate. to trouble vlad he must be forced out of his comfort zone with nonstop heavy preasure. bY all acounts jeff soaked it up whilst everyone shot a bolt trying to fight him off. against vlad he might get outboxed, then agian could vlad do 15- 20 rounds?

Without taking the time to do a real analysis, I like Wlad in this fight. Jeffries was not accustomed to facing men who vastly outsized him, and in fact enjoyed an entire career of always being the bigger man. In addition, Klit would bring a level of power and boxing dynamics that were rarely seen in those days... Jame's defense was always suspect as well... He had his nose broken three times, and sported a stance where he held his right hand low and left hand in front of his face... I think he'd be an easy target for a man with an overwhelming reach advantage, and one of the best heavy weight jabs of all time ( save a few. ) I'm not sure that Jeffries' power would be a huge factor either, regardless of Wlad's shaky chin... James KO's came primarily against much smaller men, and ones that sometimes went quite a few rounds. Wlad was stopped by modern day power hitters, and before he had really polished his skills.....

I don't like this match for Jeffries.

Wlad K. all the way over Jimmy Jeff........ Wlad dwarfs Jeff in size and weight, plus, he has better boxing ability... Jeff was great for his era, but today's (2010) Wlad is just too good for Jeff and would administer a horrid beating...

I doubt Jeff see's round 12 of this 15 rounder......

Boxing technique in that era had seen nothing like Klitschko's style, and had really nothing to counter it.

Every advantage Jeff was used to possessing, he would give up to Wlad. Strength, size, and yes, probably condition. The modern Wlad Klitschko doesn't even breathe hard going into the 12th round(He gassed earlier in his career, tis true). Jeffries wouldn't be able to do much with him in the clinch, he'd be able to do nothing with his jab and reach, and as soon as Wlad realized that he had an easy target, the right hand begins to drop and Jeff would slowly breakdown.

    Wlad TKO 14.

Good match up. Jeffries remains misunderstood by most posters on the forum. He was quick with his feet and hands, solid on defense, and a great body puncher. Wlad is not fighting Sam Peter, or Chagaev here. Nor is he up vs Byrd or Chambers who could not hurt him.

Best guess is this match might play out something like the first Brewster match. Jeffries would be out boxed early, but he would not get discouraged. Eventually he would force the action. Wlad is not a early round KO guy these days. Jeffries would ultimately test Wlad's chin, which is suspect vs. punchers and win.

The heaviest fighters Jeffries fought tended to go out early. If Jeffries was around today, he would be in the 230-235 pound range with a 77" reach. Hardly a small man. In fact I think Jeffries would hold the edge on quite a few measurements of the tale of the tape.

While Wlad's height and skills makes him hard to catch to the head, but that is not the case to the body.

What, a straight left, and the occasionally straight right and left hook, and holding on the inside.
The style is basic. The techniques are as old as the hills.

I think the era was familiar with that style, but i dont think they'd seen such a large and physically impressive specimen as Wladimir Klitschko implement it.

Wlad KOs Jeffries whenever he wants, he probably boxes from behind his jab for a few rounds before dispatching Jeffries brutally
