These two seem to be similar physically with regard to their weight, height and reach. Alexander of course has the benefits of eating the same eggs as Conor Benn. How do you see this one going? Scenario 1: 25 rounds with Jeffries gloves in Jeffries' era Scenario 2: 12 rounds in the modern era
Like i said before, i am reluctant to compare pre Dempsey era fighters to modern fighters due to the poor quality of the film which makes it impossible for us to assess the movement and defensive skills of these fighters due to the film speed. That being said, in a 25 round fight, i favour Povetkin with smaller gloves to get a stoppage in the first 10 rounds. Povetkin appears to be the bigger puncher as Jeff took a lot of rounds to wear down much smaller men while Pov regularly stopped men weighing 210 lbs or more. Povetkin will hit harder with smaller gloves. If Jeff is able to survive, say the first 15 rounds with not too much damage, he will likely take Povetkin into unchartered waters and stop him around the 20th-24th round mark. But that is a big if. In a modern 12 round fight, i am just going to assume Povetkin has tighter defense and will be able to outland Jeff and score a knockdown or two along the way and win a comfortable decision.
