With the bout finely poised, Jennings was stopped in the fifth round of his WBO intercontinental championship battle against Brook on Frank Warren's Magnificent Seven bill at the LG Arena in Birmingham. The British Boxing Board of Control have released the following statement: 'Due to Michael Jennings boxing licence being suspended for forty-five (45) days following his injury loss to Kell Brook on 18th September 2010 in Birmingham, the Stewards of the Board have withdrawn Mr. Jennings from his proposed contest against John ODonnell on 23rd October 2010 for the British Welterweight Championship. The Board will consider the Championship at their next meeting on Wednesday, 13th October 2010.' Possible alternative co-challengers for ODonnell may include, Commonwealth champion Denton Vassell, reigning (yet inactive) English champion Adnan Amar and current Celtic and former British champ Kevin McIntyre.
Hold on, im sure that kell brook is the British welterwight champion. Or am i missing something and brook vacated?
