Idiotic move indeed. This is an excellent fight and payday for him after the loss to Wladimir. He only has one division as an option and the division is clearly lacking for him to make any drastic changes. This was finally going to be the first serious test for Ortiz.

He turned down a fight on HBO after Perez last Fall as well.
I think he's arrogant and full of himself.

You really think they offered him SO little money that he had to turn it down? Highly doubt it.

 

Sad day, want Ortiz to face some big name now, He would stand a chance to anybody top 10.

 

It's his career, on his twitter he says he has a minimum amount and Ortiz's camp didn't meet it. I hope he reconsiders, I think it's a great fight for him and the fans. But if he thinks he's worth more than they're offering so be it. I'm not sure who he has in mind though that will give him better payday and more exposure. This is great rebound fight.

 

This fight could easily be a main event on a regular HBO card. I doubt it pays as much, however, since it's the C fight on a mid-level (even low-level) PPV event.

Jennings' promotion should say, yes, we like the fight and we'll take the fight, but not to curtain-jerk a PPV few people will buy. Offer an HBO main event with an HBO main event purse and we'll take it.

 

Ortiz is probably recognized as a high risk fight by the Jennings camp.

It makes me wonder who they'll consider "worth the money" after having turned the Ortiz fight down.

**** that. Our job as fans to demand the best fights. If we're doing our job, that means backing fighters who take good fights and criticizing duckers who face stiffs and pass it off as legit competition.

Overall Jennings has taken on decent opposition in his short career, but not jumping at the opportunity to take Ortiz's 0 shows he may not be as confident as he fronts.

 

God damn it can people stop crying duck every time someone turns down a fight? NONE of you here would fight every single person that makes a proposal to you.
