I also like his upper body movement its very good for a young inexperienced fighter but what I'm especially speakin about is the way he leaves his chin open sometimes when he throws some wreckless combinations ... And also backing down in straight lanes too much...He should learn to tuck his chin inside his shoulder more when he punches and bring his hands up more between punches...Ang move back laterally...
Jeremiah has wanted to fight high level competition for every fight. As soon as you tell him the opponents record... you should see his face and mood after that. He understands how strange the boxing biz can be, but hates some of these hoops boxers must jump through ex. fighting guys we know he can smash. He certainly will need to display more traditional skills as he fights increasingly better fighters. I think you would be surprised at his ability to box and stay behind the jab and play the boxer/puncher/counter puncher-range-game. JG is like a starving vampire though, kill kill kill. The manner in which he fights will evolve each fight just as every boxers should, but it's difficult to showcase all of your skills when knocking out lower level comp comes so quickly. Being in my first decade of fighting being my life, I've noticed and loved how quickly boxing can humble you and reveal it's secrets to you about skill, the difference between real fighters and pretenders, fans, bloggers, learning from every source possible all the time, boxing tradition.... hopefully we all evolve in every way, everyday, as boxers and men. Regarding the Jose Luis Herrera fight... I don't wanna spend to much time, as I can be long-winded. Everything landed in the first three rounds, Herrera was down within 25 seconds and again in the 2nd round seemingly on his way to another easy KO. However, Herrera survived. It was amazing to see, herrera has tons of heart. JG punched himself out and was in DEEEEEP **** for a minute in the 4th winging wild tired punches, getting his arm caught in the ropes during a punch, and then....... the scariest moment I've ever felt. Jeremiah made it through the round and fought to get his legs back in the 5th round. Incredibly to see, Herrera was on the canvas again in the 6th and amzingly made it to his feet yet again, then Jeremiah boxed the rest of the way to a unanimous decision. Sooooooooooooooooooooo many lessons were learned from this fight by all. I jumped on the apron when JG was being checked out by the doctor after getting his arm caught and hurting his shoulder, risking disqualification like an idiot novice cornerman. I'm ashamed about that. Enough sulking.....However, this fight is an awesome wake-up-call and I am sooooo thankful to have seen JG go through what he did and take the biggest step in his career, not as far as the opponent, but the lessons he and we all learned. We were fortunate to get the win. Everyone will see a new fighter in the future guaranteed. To wrap this **** up..... I wish people were smarter and cooler that's all. Why get on a blog and simply hate on someone trying to do their thing in a sport we all obviously love? Why get on a blog and say you SPARRED him and lie about how you kept him away easily with your jab? Fighting and sparring aren't the same. Real fighters don't lie to anyone especially themselves. Jeremiah is talented, strong as fu**,humble and truly an old-soul. He certainly isn't terrible LOL.
Good post coach...Thanks for the Herrera fight details...I would LIKEEEE if you could updates news of JG on this thread...Like the kid a lot but pleeeease work on the Jab!!!Most important punch in boxing!!!.....:good:thumbsup
Also if you have a video of the fight it would be very nice if you post it on youtube or here...Seem to be a very good action fight...Tnanks!
Hey Coach :good A few of us have been following JG for awhile now and its cool to see him getting this exposure.... a poster by the name of Kolya introduced him on here awhile back now, and its cool to see how the name is slowly growing. I wish you guys success. I word of advice though, you will always come across the type of 'fan' that goes out of his way to hate, most of who, have never been punched in the face or strapped on a glove. You mustn't take their hollow words so personally, and realise that they are not worth your energy. But also discern between hate, and good advice. Hope to see you guys fight again soon and the best of luck :good
this kid needs to get with Kevin Rooney ASAP. I don't buy the silly Tyson comparisons for a second but Rooney could really get the best out of this kid.
Coach Ford - I am from St. Louis, and like JG's style, and think there are things about his game that could be great for boxing. However, in almost every internet forum, YouTube (etc.) I have seen you berate people for having any opinion different than yours. If JG is a superstar outside of St. Joseph and KC, a major promoter will sign him on and he'll start getting real fights (like BJ Flores and Ryan Coyne). His talent will take care of itself. JG has now been either down or (standing 8) twice in pro fights. That makes him exciting, but it also makes me wonder if you'll come back to these forums if he gets turded and things don't pan out? I respect your love and respect for the kid - but seriously...you put alot of pressure on him publicly.
