One boxer who actually took some time to learn the other aspects of the game while still close to his prime... He looks good at mma on all the youtube fights...could actually do submission work on the ground... Seemed to have a good sprawl and general take down defense...so why didn't he keep fighting and step up aganst better mma competion.
World class boxer who was a black belt in Judo. Probably the only guy who I was genuinely interested in seeing in MMA.
I can't find anything online about why he quit..I mean his last fight was march 2008...he hasn't fought since then...and I can't find any reason why he hasn't...of course he is starting to get old now...38
Could also be injury in the gym..maybe he worked out with top mma guys and found out he couldn't hang with them (but it seems to me like he could)...but yea, what you said makes sense...he does train allot of boxers now...
We had this discussion a while ago and no one really knew. We couldn't work out what he was doing either.
He tried to go back to cruiserweight in boxing but didn't look too good. In mma he didn't look great either. He once was about to fight in the K-1 Vegas tournament, unfortunately the Athletic Comission didn't allow him to compete ... because he suffered a severe the KO earlier vs Peter. Really would have like to see him in K-1.
He was close to his prime at all. Jeremy was a good journeyman who would have been better off down at 200lbs than boxing at heavy. That said his MMA career was pretty nondescript. His sparring session with Lennox was quite entertaining though as he threw Lennox a number of times with a few classic Judo throws from what i recall. Lennox wasnt impressed at all.
If I remember correctly its Williams who says he the black belt in Judo. I'm going to find the video of him tossing Lewis.
