Damn I know ive seen it before by I was going thru it slowly a couple minutes ago and im thinking this is by far the best one in MMA history. Dan Severn D Travis Fulton 3x D/D/W Frank Shamrock L Steve Berger W Chuck Liddell 2x W/L Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira L Ricardo Arona L Eugene Jackson W Randy Couture L Elvis Sinosic L Akira Shoji W Gilbert Yvel W Vernon White W Forrest Griffin W Babalu Sobral L Dean Lister David Loiseau Anderson Silva L Chael Sonnen 3x W/W/W Trevor Prangley W Josh Burkman W Niko Vitale W Matt Lindland L Jorge Santiago L Nate Marquardt L
He fought almost everyone lol...(the big names) in this sport...but still , it's not because all these important names are part of his resume that it can be classified as "best one in mma history". Because if that's the case...we can utilise the same logic with Kanehara... (that guy fought against Wanderlei , Horn ,Arona , Hughes , Overeem , Kondo , Crocop , Sobral , Sperry , Henderson , Shogun... ) How about Fulton ? He fought against the likes of Wiuff , Rothwell , Sims , Whitehead ,Pele , Miller , Riggs , Griffin , Horn , Severn , Franklin , Tanner , Kohsaka , Sobral , Rodriguez , Freeman , Herring , Matyushenko , Lindland , strasser... or any "cans" of any combat sports... Take Marion Wilson for example... That guy had to fight the likes of : McCall Peter Rahman Donald Maskaev Sanders Ibeabuchi Mavrovic Golota Briggs Mercer Williams Botha Johnson... Not saying that Jeremy Horn is a "can" or anything...Far from it... But my point is that what makes an impressive record is it's consistency against "cans" , "c level" , "b level" , "a level" , "elite"...competition....especially in this sport , you know as well as everyone that MMA can be extremely unpredictable at times..."average" fighters beating elite ones...it happens...and sometimes , styles make fights too..."one dimensional" fighters beating top and versatile ones... (Matt Hughes > Penn in the rematch for example even though Penn is way more technical) Serra > GSP , even though GSP was the clear favorite... Douglas > Tyson Rahman > Lennox Gonzaga > Crocop (and via Highkick no less , what an embarrassment) Abidi > Aerts Sapp > Hoost If we look at consistency , and the "ensemble"...(a mix of cans , c level , b & a level competition)... In other words a guy who's been able to adapt to everyone's style , win against all styles , different quality of opponents , beating the odds , winning (almost) all his rematches....then i'd say the title for most impressive Record in MMA probably goes to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. He fought a bit of everyone...From Zulu to Werdum....Sylvia to Horn ,...From Crocop to Henderson...etc..etc... Difference between Horn & Nogueira is that Nog has been consistent against everyone. (again , almost...not counting Emelianenko) http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/fightfinder.asp?fighterid=1440
Good post but please dont use the can or C level fighter beating elite guys then throwing in Gab Gonzagas name. Kongo was a C level fighter who beat Cro Cop. Gonzaga has fantastic Jiu-Jitsu thats why hes competed at the highest stage. Hes a all around very good mixed martial artist who else will ever catch a quick Cro Cop kick take himdown, nail him cleanly with sharp elbows then nearly rip his head off with a highkick ? Im sure Crop underestimated him slightly but he still got trashed by a good fighter. My main concern with Gonzaga is like another Brazilian Belfort and its his heart,
