Jermain Taylor fought the only game plan taht could have gave him the victory last night, unfortunatley, his stamina failed him, but his heart never gave up. Kelly Pavlik took the fight , Jermain never gave the fight away, they both deserved creadit for a very entertaining fight. Jermain downfall was his stamina, as he jut couldn;t keep Pavlik at the end of his jab as he did in the early rounds...Pavlik 1-2 Combos were there the entire night and were the reason of Jermain fading in the last 4 rounds, I had the fight even until the 8 round...from the nineth on it was clear that Pavlik cut the distance and Jermain;s jab was not as effective since he was clearly getting gased... Kudos to Jermain and Kelly for a great showing
Certainly the sentiments you hope would be coming from keyboards of most of ESB. Unfortunately...... Either way, this was a good fight and worth the money.
I agree. When Kelly throws that 1,2 even if it hits gloves after a few rounds those really wear down the recipient even if blocked correctly.
If Jermain could have been able to slow the 1-2 combos from Kelly perhaps he would ahve been able to save something for the last 4 rounds, that is not to say he didn't fought valiently in the last 4 rounds, but it was in to little to late....his heart carried him on the last 4 rounds...they both spended plenty of energy on the fight....
great thread! and kudos for jermain to be a outstanding gentlemen at the press confrence, what a great champion if not in the ring then in his words.
I agree, and IMHO he was pure class in that interview - absolutely what people in the sport need to be.
Nothing bad to say about either of them. Pavlik and Taylor are both credits to the sport, and the kind of fighters we need for boxing to regain mainstream recognition. I might go so far as to say Jermain's created more new fans with how he fought Kelly, even though they were losses, than he had in his previous defenses.
A very close fight, could have gone either way. Either way. No fighter was dominant. Pavlik just threw more, but Taylor's right hands were the hardest punches in the fight. Like I said, it could have gone either way, I say Jermain and Pavlik both go back down to 160, and Jermain work his way the the top again and get another title shot, because he is definitely the number 2 middleweight in the world.
