Jermain Taylor a case of bad management?

No Sir!!! I am from Little Rock and watched him for awhile.... He needs this for HISELF... HE wanted this fight... HE has a real heart no ducking no getting punked out he is going in there win or lose to fight a fight WE need to see!!! HE is no punk... He might have needed to lose to see what its like... HE is HUNGRY and ready.

 

Case of bad overhyping, bad corner chemistry, and bad bad intentions.

None of those were such grueling fights that he needed a tuneup. Nor were Ouma, or Spinks. Pavlik knocked him off his perch and if he wants to erase that the shortest distance between two points is a straight path. :deal

Waiting longer would be bad management, as there is no reason to doubt that any decent SMW could knock him even further down. At least Pavlik is the devil he knows, and knows he's capable of hurting. What top SMW do you honestly think he'd have more of a chance against? It's Redemption City or bust.

 

Yeah, somebody needed to tell him that making the choice of fighting Kelly so soon could be devestating both finacially and career wise.... Take a tune up, get your confidence back up and wait for Kelly star to rise a little higher so that you could demand a little more money in the rematch.

I know Arum was talking about the fight maybe taking place in the fall at Buckeye stadium in Ohio..... Just imagine how lucrative this could have been for Jermain if he would have chose this option.

 

Ouma and Spinks were both "give me" fights, it gets to the point where his managment says, either he performs bad against shitty opposition and further degrades his stock or he fights good opposition and at least makes his money.

 

he did not need anything but Hbo to not make him out to be something he is not. A FIGHTER.

 

I don't know why he got rid of Pat Burns. I mean he look like the next coming of Marvin Hagler in his fights against Hopkins, compared to his fight with Spinks, Ouma, and Wright.

 

Here it is right here, Goddamn i was thinking the same thing. Steward ****ed him. There was no reason to leave Burns. Now he is going back to his childhood trainer this is the only mistake that i see. He does not lack the confidence and think fighting right now is the right move especially before he moves on to 168. He has unfinished buisness that he needs to tend to. This trainer thing could be bad though.

I think the bad management in Taylor's case was not correcting his mistakes early on even b4 being champion. Cause now hes stuck and nos nothing other then fighting the way he only knows how to.

 

A tune up fight with a solid "B" level opponent would have been the smart thing to do, but, hats off to JT anyway; as far as I remember he's the only Pavlik victim who ever had the balls to ask for a rematch!

I don't think Taylor needs a tune-up fight to get his confidence back
because he nearly beat Pavlik in their first fight. He knows he can
knockdown Kelly and that he is the faster, more athletic fighter.
He just needs to adjust his style and keep his left hand up to guard
his head. The problem is Taylor has stamina problems despite being
a hard worker in training camp. I just don't think he can survive Kelly's
pressure into the late rounds. He'll gas out and become vulnerable to
Kelly's big shots. Some people just don't have good endurance no matter
how hard they train. Confidence or the lack of it will have no bearing
on the outcome of this fight. Both these dudes are seasoned pros.

 

while jermain did give kelly a scary moment in their first fight, i fully expect kelly to play it more smarter this time round. i.e. not sticking his tongue or chin out to be tagged like an idiot.

i feel kelly has jermain's number, but i am a fan of taylor's now after his loss. he is a real warrior. i don't care if fighters have a loss or two on their record. as long as they dont play it safe all career.

jermain will always have my admiration, even though i believe kelly will win the rematch.

 

I dont care what you guys say. This fight was NO blowout it was a case of fatique and getting caught one to many times... Jermain took alot of shots then got tired and knocked out... It was a competitive fight throughout no domination by either... The next fight will be just as competitive. Both are very good fighters... No hype jobs ... Expect to see fireworks again... Pavlik DID NOT KILL JERMAIN!... Look at Allen green and Codrington eg. He caught him and got him good in the corner. He is ok and will be back to fight a good one...
