i hear ya herm but i think everyone in this tourney is very talented but also has their share of question marks. jt at his best could make some noise.
This is the last chance for JT. I'm actually surprised he even got into the tourney. With that said I wish him the best even though I don't think he'll win it.
Taylor is looking at the guaranteed check. He was close to beating Froch. I'm sure they were able to get him for the 'right price'. Also, Saurland is probably desperately hoping that AA KO's him early as a 'Pavlik' comparison.
Normally I wouldn't discount a fighter lke Taylor so easily, but I think the man has lost the heart to do this and I think as of right now he's quite complacent of where he is financially and for this spport you have to have hunger to climb up the ranks, something which I don't think Taylor has anymore. Whetherr or not he still has it physically, he doesn't have it mentally and that's what I believe will prevent him from going too far in this tournament. Too many good, hungry fighters in this tourney for him to be able to get past them all. Most likely scenario is that he gets clobbered and KOed once again.
I am afraid we have already seen his best, and what ever potential he had, in his last 6-7 fights of his career. He had fought everyone there, from a small pressure fighter, a defensive wizard, a volume puncher, a shot fighter, to a small boxer, and to be honest, he has not shown any thing impressive there to make me believe he would be the next best thing, let alone to think he would still bounce back from his previous defeats, including the last one, a massive KO loss in the championship round in a fight he was leading. If anything else, only two things surfaced up there. Questions about his stamina and chin. His other strenghts, having athleticism, boxing skills, and enough power, are obviously limited by these. His fights with Hopkins, an economical fighter, and Wright, a defensive boxer first and foremost, didn't really test these weaknesses. Against Ouma, it was clear he wants to put him to canvass even in the early stages of the fight, but eventually tired out. And this is against a smaller guy who came up in weights just for him, and whose style is built for him for a KO reel. Ranged against busy fighters with power, he folds up. And in this coming tournament, where he will be going up in weight, he will face more of them. Will he be able to rise to these occasions? I very much doubt it. We might only see more of his last fight there, where his stamina and chin failed him.
TBH i have to agree . bad style's match for JT. and great point in bringing up the Miranda Rematch he was an absolute beast at 166 and even Miranda said he was hit harder then ever and AA felt much stronger then b4
Taylor INO is a spent good fighter nothing more i alwasy said the SMW division was a monster and Jt has showed really nothing at this weight. loss to KP at 166. beat Lacy unimpressively( was unofficially Knocked down) and seemed not to be able to push the gas when he stunned lacy a couple time . all this culminated in his last fight when he won most the rounds up until the 7th round and then proceeded to get his boots smoked in the last round. he proved that although a top level fighter at 160 he's far from elite at 168 where fighting is like swimming in shark infested water with a bloody carcas straped to you. 168 i thick with top compition unlike the division in where jt fought in previously wher he got gifts over b-hop , failed to KO a smaller light hitting pressure fighter in Ouma, got a disputable win over spinks and wasn't active enough with a fighter that had been ko'd by lighter weight fighters. and hung with winkey right.then got Ko'd by the only true young , Big ,Power hitting Fighter he came up against and although gave a good acount for himself(the knock down caused by Kp himself by take 15 plus shot in a stupid jester) but still got KO'd. 160 at jt's time was not deep 168 i say JT crashes and burns in this tourney usally i would say "it's better to Burn Out then Fade Away ! but it sucks when you really never shined to bright to begin with. Hbo somes has a problem with shining Brass for so long after a while they start thinking it's Gold good thing KP sent them a reality check in the first fight
I also agree with you, as an abraham fan, I need to point this out though, , JERMAIN TAYLOR beats arthur at 160 7 or 8 times out of 10, even though he lost to Pavlik, I think he should have stuck around 160, he was much more faster, punched harder and seemed like he was more agile. Styles makes fights, at 168 jermain is not a top contender, I honestly think he has a hard time with andrade.
No, either at 160 or 168, Abraham would beat him. His proven stamina issue will ensure his losses against pressure fighters.
