i think he can get to the HOF. he has a decent resume and only one fighter has had his number so far. i can think of someone who is still making headlines and being mentioned for the HOF and that is sugar shane. he lost twice to someone who just had his number. he just couldnt beat vernon. if jermain fights the best and beats the best then why not. we can debate whether he has the goods to beat those people but thats not the point. he does have the opportunity. Lets not forget he probably will have the chance to fight kelly again if kelly moves up. abraham as well. he may not beat either one but at least hell have the chance.

I don't think I mentioned the word "protected" once in any of my posts???:huh I just think at 160 his performances didn't warrant his reputation or the big PR job that HBO were giving him at the time.

I keep saying "at 160" because thats the weight that he was fighting at when HBO was proclaiming him the new face of boxing on the back some less than stellar wins.

Its who he did fight and the unneeded rematches. It was a pretty poor division at the time, thats not Hopkins fault but theres a lot of poor defences there IMHO.

    Start a thread on it.....

Its a fair thread but I'm gonna say no. Based on his "wins" over natural 147 and 154 pounders, and his Draw with Winky which I thought was a clear loss makes it hard for me to believe he can be an ATG. The 2 losses to Pavlik dont help. Lets see what he does with a good 168 pound fighter.

NO, but he's already better than some HOF fighters.

Of those 4 fights, he had 3 questionable decision wins and started favorite against a Pavlik who was thought by many to be too green for his title shots.

Again, for those of you who have trouble reading, its not that he was protected or that Hops or Pavlik wern't big tests...it was the big PR hype job that HBO threw behind Taylor at the time.

Christ!! You really are an idiot arn't you? You either can't read or you're just purposfully putting words in my mouth. Where have I said anything else other than Hopkins had a lot of defences against fighters of questionable quality?

You snipped both those comments to take them out of context. I've said more than once in this thread that its easy ride he had off HBO PR machine thats my "problem" with him.

What is the unified, undisputed Champion of a division supposed to do? :huh Not defend his title against the best available opposition - go on vaction maybe? :think
