I don't normally do this but I can't help feeling that Jermain Taylor is a chump, and has been for a while. All the euphoric posts that I have read since his loss about respecting Jermain for laying it all on the line and not making any excuses are sadly unconvincing, lacking in real empathy, rants by many who wanted to see Jermain lose this past Saturday- don't even argue just admit it!

I'm disappointed in Jermain's performance not because I wanted him to win, but because he should have won easily from what I had witnessed. One of my concerns coming into this fight was would Jermain do the necessary work to take care of his fitness . Since vanquishing Hopkins and to date Jermain's fitness has always appeared to be suspect. Then to state that he felt that round 2 took a lot out of him, when he should have finished Pavlik makes me sick to the stomach.

It is deplorable that a (former) world champion can make such a pathetic statement in this modern era of physical advancement and health. Where is this man's pride or sensibility.

Absolutely un f**ing believable. I really do hope somebody from your camp reads this and passes it on to you - gassing out in 2 rounds!!

Disgraced the whole Kronk ethos, whilst getting KTFO!!

And just so we're clear I take nothing away from Pavlik - who clearly did an excellent job outside and inside the ring (trained and fought like he was supposed to) in securing this victory.

This is not so hard to understand.....

Taylor isn't used to being forced to fight at anothers pace. Particularly at the pace that Pavlik set. His stanima is his greatest weakness. And Pavlik is the middleweight fighter most likely to exploit it. Most of the other middleweights in the division don't have the style or physicality to do that.

anybody that gets in the ring and fights is not a chump. especially when fighting the number 1 ranked middleweight in the world. he ****ed up, and he'll probably make some shitty excuses but it takes balls to be a boxer. he didn't quit, he showed heart and he came up short.

He let the balls hang out and this time he was not the better man. Nothing shameful in that.

So true. Its easy to stand outside the ring and say, "oh , he's a chump",
without feeling the burn in the lungs from the extreame excertion , or the pain of getting smacked upside the head, or getting a broken nose, the agony of a wind sapping body shot.Chumps don't win undisputed titles or demand rematches after they get their head handed to them.
Chumps usually just call names from a safe distance.

Fellas - never before have I witnessed a champion lacking in fitness to the extent that JT does.

Look at any other champion of the last decade: sugar ray leonard, hagler, holmes - or futher back still, jake lamotta, sugar ray robinson, ali.

If you go into a fight ill prepared stamina or other wise, and with your legacy and pride at stake, and your a heavily criticise champion with something to prove, then you're a chump! Simple as!!

I never saw a fighter who was so completely incapable of fighting backwards until Pavlik exposed Miranda's biggest weakness for the world to see.

Some fighters have glaring weaknesses. But they don't get exposed until a fighter with the right style shows up.

I'm all for respecting fighters who first and foremost respect themselves and second respect this sport. I have never been so incensed by a fighter's complacency as I have by Jermain's.

And just so you're clear hotti_killer I'd couldn't give a rat's arse what you think of me - I've walked the walk and therefore can talk the talk. Simple as!!!

Yeah, he's a chump for standing in front of Pavlik for 7 rounds and exchanging power shots.

If anything, the guy is stupid because he still hasn't learned how to utilize his immense talents properly. But a chump he is not. He brings it against fighters who fight. Maybe a little too much for his own good. A talented guy like him needs to box more.

Exactly. Taylor is a brawler in a boxer's body.

Perhaps if you toned down the hyperbole, people might take you more seriously. Taylor's physical conditioning is OK -- not great, but OK. I think he wears down mentally under the spotlight, which is something he may or may not ever be able to address.

Regardless, he fought a courageous fight at a division that's too small for him against a tough, determined puncher.

If you want to complain about guys not showing proper respect for competition, check out the heavyweight division. Leave Taylor alone.

when i saw the thread title i thought "he we go just another hating post" but really i can see where your coming from, you make some valid arguments in there.i've mentioned on another thread that if he can improve his stamina in any rematch, and there's no reason why he shouldn't be able to beat pavlik,i think they're pretty evenly matched.
