Before I get idiot responses, an explanation

Many strong punchers have been known for having thickly built legs and waists.

Addittionally, these fighters are often known for having very good chins.

Carl Forch for example, his upper body and Jermains were roughly the same size, Froch has much thicker legs though, and he is known for his chin.

Recent fighters such as David Tua, Mike Tyson,Manny Pacquiao, Joshua Clottey. All these fighters are have thick legs and high punch resistance

I guess my point is just the correlation between hard chinned and having thick legs. There must be something more to this connection

Never thought much about legs and punch resistance. The neck, lats, and upper back effect punch resistance because stronger muscles support the head better.

Hopefully, cause my legs are huge from skiing all my life, although my knees are shot. I can see where you're going but I don't know if it's the legs, maybe bigger legs usually just mean a more stout build, which leads to a better chin.

Strong legs can do magic. Khan was all over the place when light-punching or smaller LWs touched his chin, but took some flush shot from Kotelnik at 140 and never buckled. It might not improve punch resistence by much, but having worked on the legs gives you extra balance and they won't abandon you in hard times. Also, if you're hurt, the legs show the signs first, but if they are stronger, you might be able to 'hide' your weak moments from the opponent. Stronger legs attached to the gound obviously allows you to put more body weight behind shots, resulting in more power.

Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn, Evander Holyfield and more..

Had good chins, and did not have thick big legs..

Jermaine Taylor used to be a good 400m sprinter in college, looks can be deceptive....

But he does need to work on his endurance bigtime, his agility/movement is good early on in fights..

    But he soon becomes static..

Holyfield has twig legs and a good chin, so does Margarito, boxers in general have thin legs
Cant think of any with big legs and a weak chin though, except Hamed

Correct, Hamed had a very good chin. He was however caught off balance a lot due to his unorthodox style, hence the amount of knockdowns he suffered.

    strong legs = more power...

your power is usually generated from your core & thighs

    :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Kotelnik has a 31% KO rate. What until that Glass Jawed fraud ever gets back into the ring with someone with a 70% KO rate or so (if he ever does which is doubtful he is so protected).

In boxing the legs deal with balance and leverage, not chin. A strong mindset, neck, and shoulders help with the ability to take a punch. Two fighters that come to mind who had all 3 without big legs are Holyfield and Hagler. By the way Baldomir doesn't have big legs and he has a beard and a half.

I don't think there is much of a correlation ....

guys like Pavlik , DLH , Paul Williams and I could go on... all have skinny legs and great punch resistance.
