It is VERY VERY often that you see a Cotto fan be a fan of Pavlik, and absolutely vice-versa. Those 2, I just do NOT understand how people don't like them. Blows my mind.
I rooted for Bronco McKart to whip Pavlik's ass, and make a decent come back. That was the fight that made me a Pavlik fan. I knew right there he was going to be champ. McKart is seriously under rated on ESB, and I knew if you take Bronco out with a body shot, you got some **** goin' on. Always liked JT, but he kind of lost me with the Ouma and Spinks fights. And I knew that his habits of going straight back to the ropes, and holding his left low, would cost him the fight against KP. However, Jermain got me back on board as a fan in the first fight.
True, the Ouma and Spinks fights blew, and caused JT a LOT of grief from critics. Jermain certainly looked the best in a long time when he got it on with Pavlik. Even his "peeps" in Little Rock were blastin' on JT..PUBLICLY!! But after that fight, he was met with love back home.
:rofl:rofl Good one, Herms. That one judges **** can't be looked at as some "proof" that Froch was NOT WAY out of that fight. Look for example at the ass hole that said Chambers/Dimi was a draw! Froch was gettin' clowned out there, but congratulations to him on that LAST SECONDS come back....I guess.
which was bull****. 1)they are incredibly hard to look good against 2)spinks especially was a VERY tough fight and worthy title defense 3)he won! I thought JT's reign was defined by constantly trying to please a horribly picky fanbase. He fought some of the best, never any soft touches and didn't lose until he took on a banger in a great slugfest
I want Taylor to do well for himself, but I just don't see it happening. A shame because he's a good guy who's always ready to fight the best. That said, I give him a great shot at AA...don't favor him however.
same here. as a boxing fan, i don't get it either. people will just find any reason to hate on a fighter. it's pretty weak. pavlik's gotta fight again soon. it's getting extremely OLD having the #1 middleweight in the ****in WORLD sidelined this long.
He did well in the rematch with Pavlik and against Froch until his stamina gave out. I don't think he looked 'ruined'.
which is great. it's not a knock against pavlik fans but on this forum it sometimes seems like you can't like fighter a AND fighter b especially if they've fought. it's good to hear that people like the sport and a variety of boxers without stupid allegences
agreed. he'll frustrate the hell outta you if your a fan but he is a class act...pipe's analogy w/ the beer commercial is about spot on for how i (and many others) felt also after the first pav fight. in fact, i dunno of many pav fans at all who also don't respect and pull for jt
Damn straight! 100% agree with all your points there. You know the one that pisses me off the most is the Ouma fight. Ouma for one has space age titanium alloy chin (as evidenced by the fact JT was droppin' BOMBS on that ass, and he just would not go down) and JT won pretty much every round. I've seen some Jack asses on here that claim JT got a gift in that fight!!!! Idiots. Spinks fight may not have seemed as bad if not for being on the heels of potential FOTY between Pavlik and Miranda on the undercard, maybe.
Agreed. Though he just fought a mando in late Feb., the fact we don't even have a fight announced is kind of killin' my soul too. Pavlik did say he wanted a break when his 2nd child was just born though, and he did have to go thru serious negotiations with Arum over his contract runnin' out. I can't say much, but I will say that Pavlik was NOT gonna renew unless Arum ditched the Mora bout.
