This thread has gone sideways on me. It's a fun conversation, but I'd like to get back on topic. If you take the version of JT from the 2nd Pavlik fight, and make a few minor adjustments, I'd pick him over every other contestant except Kessler. Most people keep harping on Taylor's stamina, but in my opinion that is not the real issue. The real issues are stylistic. Jermain needs to learn not to waste so much energy with unecessary movement ( somebody tell him that ****ing bug on his forehead ain't real! ) He needs to learn to alternate between a blister and move approach, and a potshot and clinch approach. Just like Brother Nazzim said; "Ya don't have to fight the way people want you to. what you have to do is win!"
No doubt. Glad Jorodz is in this thread layin' it down, cause I'm a certainly be watchin' for his posts for now on.
Sorry Boo, some of that is my fault. You're right. Kessler though, better watch out with his ass too. JT ain't no damned Sartison or Perdomo, that's for damned sure. I'm not 100% sold tbh, and the only REALLY elite level fighter he fought, he got owned.
And not burn energy just being tense. Small point that Dempsey makes. You don't clinch your fist until you throw. It does make a difference in 'tension level'.
i think that is what one of the announcers said right before he knocked pav down in the first fight..."taylor showing a lot of wasted movement" its true he does. as far as the tourney...i think he can hang w/ everyone in it as long as he puts his best foot forward and keeps his head about him. kessler should be the favorite but has been very inactive. dirrell doesnt have jt's experience and aa isnt really tested at that weight...ward, kind of the same think as dirrell, and froch was seconds away from losing to jt so yeah i think he'll have a shot. he may get floored again but at the same time he'll have a shot
You're right about Kessler, but he's so big and strong. All the other contestants have some definite disadvantages verses JT, but I don't really see that with Kessler.
:goodgreat call on that. everyone agree's that taylor has the skills to dominate, just needs to put it all together. what impresses me that his only two defeats have been BRUTAL knockouts and what does he do: rematches the first immediately and then enters a tournament where he may face the other. jt has some balls and he may develop the confidence and mental strength he needs to excel.
yeah he does look like he has the frame to move up to lhw if he had to. but he isnt immune to being rattled...didnt joe hurt him w/ a body shot??
and let's be honest, even mundine gave him some tough moments. kessler is great, probably the best of the division but he needs to prove it against the elites. good thing for him he's in one of the most talent stacked divisions in boxing :good
dude that is some crazy **** :nut i know thats what is talked about but you know w/ this game...you can get excited but can't really believe it till it happens i guess lol you talk about giving guys an incentive to put their man down or go out on their shield trying.
