it's really hard not to pick pavlik on this one. taylor unleashed the best flurry of punches that i've seen from him in the past 2 years and pavlik still managed to get up after that. this just proved that pavlik could handle taylor's best punches while taylor could not

I'm going with Taylor. I think it was competitive fight that Taylor was winning and should have won in the 2nd round. I think he'll pull it out.

This thread is abso-****ing-lutely amazing. Pavlik DESTROYED an undefeated champion, and he is still one of the most under-rated fighters among todays elites. Taylor threw everything he knows how to throw in round 2 along with some free shots Pav gave him when he DROPPED HIS HANDS AND STUCK HIS CHIN OUT, and Pavlik came back in THE VERY NEXT ROUND, and handed JT his ass on a boxing glove. Half way through round 7 Jermain HAD TO ASK if he got knocked out:yep

I think a lot of people misinterpet Pavlik. His KO ratio is so high, people only see him as a slugger. Kelly Pavlik IS NOT A SLUGGER!!!! He is a very convential boxer with a work rate like that of a great featherweight or lightweight. He throws 80-100 punches per round and his connect rate averages 40-50%. That means that by the time you get to the middle rounds Pavlik has hit his opponent at least 400 times! And, he sits down good on his punches so that, as Bronco McKart put it: "Everything he throws has somethin' on it."

Pavlik systematically dismantles people. He breaks them down physically and emotionally. He does not get rattled under pressure, he listens to his corner extremely well, and he follows there instructions. 93% of his fights have ended in a ko or tko, but not because he is a one punch KO artist. They end the way they end because Kelly is an amazing FIGHTER who knows how to capatalize on his opponents mistakes and flaws, how to execute a fight plan, and how to use his physical attributes to the fullest possible advantage. Taylor has two chances against Pav: Slim and None. The problem is, Slim says he aint's comin' to the fight:hey

That's exactly what you said last time. It's late -- go to bed boy -- you have school tommorrow -- and your teachers are getting really pissed about having a kid your age in their 3rd grade class room.

I bet on Taylor for the first fight, and tbh at the end of round 5 i was comfortable with my bet even though Taylor. Then he started getting sloppy. The guy's stamina is ****. He ALWAYS loses the championship rounds.

I don't know man i think Taylor is a better skilled than PAvlik but that his **** stamina and mental weakness will cause him to lose.

I find it remarkable that some pick Taylor because he "almost" won the first fight, as if it was just bad luck that kept him from winning. Here is why he will lose to Pavlik 10 out of 10:

    1. Taylor's failure to fully capitalize on Pavlik's mistake shows why he has underperformed (meaning below his talent) in important fights and will continue to do so. He is mentally a weak fighter whose ring intelligence takes a vacation when things get exciting. The 2nd round of the Pavlik fight is nor reason for confidence for Taylor at all.

    2. Pavlik is simply more gifted in the stamina department. You can reach you natural endurance potential through training, but not exceed it by simply doing more. Taylor runs like a natural sprinter, his muscles simply burn more oxygen and tire faster If he doesn't get Pavlik out in 5 - 6 rounds, it's over.

    3. Pavlik was underestimated the first time, because he looks rugged. However his style is highly effective for him and he is faster than it appears. A lanky guy with long arms will always appear slower. Pavlik isn't perfect, but he can hold his own against Taylor in boxing skills.

Bottom line: Almost no real advantage for Taylor, a little better handspeed, but all else in Pavlik's favor.

    Jermaine isn't gonna win.

It's not because Jermaine isn't tallented or athletic enough, it's because he refuses to box when he should be.

    Same situation.

Jermaine is going to get hit, and instead of moving when he's against the ropes, he's going to get backed up and knocked out.

If it happened once, it will happen again.

And if ya'll don't believe it, it happened against, Winky, not the most mobile guy in the world as it is, Ouma, and well, as ya'll all know, Pavlik.

    Why wouldn't it happen again?

Pavlik isn't going anywhere. It's Taylor that's going to have to box, and if he doesn't, he better risk it all and go in straight for the kill, cuz as we all know...

Taylor is a 6 round fighter.

    And he fired his trainer?????

I don't like this scenario at all. Taylor is likely going down again. He should have watched the Kessler-Calzaghe fight and watched what Kessler did when he was pinned against the ropes....

Oh yeah, that's right, Taylor doesn't watch film.
