I've been thinking about it. JT is too good of a talent to waste time in the garbage division of SMW when all the real comp is in LHW. He should skip SMW and go to LHW.

    What do you all think.

yeah, probably best to save the embarrassment of getting KTFO by kessler and andrade.

Some good fights in SMW, he should defo campaign at 168 for a few years.

What competition is at LHW? Hopkins is retired, Calzaghe will retire after fighting Jones (and Jones too most likely). Leaves a couple of old men and NotBad Chad Dawson.

SMW will be a vastly superior division by this time next year.

    I disagree.

If he goes to LHW now, he has the opportunity to fight HOF in Tarver,RJJ,Chris Byrd and great opposition in Chad Dawson, Glen Johnson,

staying in 168 only gives him fights with low quality fighters like Bute, Pascal, and Kessler. Those guys do nothing for legacy.

I agree that losing to Bute, Pascal and Kessler would do nothing for Taylor's legacy. Maybe you're right and LHW would be the safer option for him...

Is this just another half-veiled attempt at discrediting Calzaghe? Like I said, 'deflate-the-hate'.:D

Its not about winning and losing to them, its about opportunity to fight the best and the better fighters are at 175.

This thread has nothing to do with Joe C. but everything to do with Taylor. Why are you so defensive?

If he wants to fight for the US-Championships he should go to LHW - the tougher competition is definately at 168...

That's a debateable one. Most will be gone in the next 12 months. Anyway, has Taylor got a Legacy ??

People underestimate the talent at SMW because most people don't watch guys like Bute, Pascal, and Kessler on a regular basis. I'd especially like to see Jermain get his ass kicked by Bute. That would just be too sweet!

Like I said, arguably not now, and certainly not for much longer.

Hopkins is gone. Calzaghe and Jones are likely to fight in November and then they're both gone. Tarver can't have too many more miles on the clock. Still up in the air whether Byrd can make LHW and how good he'd be if he did. Johnson is also old, and not a bigger test than the likes of Bute or Kessler.

That leaves Dawson, who says it can make SMW, in which case he should. LHW gonna be a graveyard this time next year. Meanwhile SMW will have Kessler, Bute, Miranda, Taylor, Pavlik, Andrade, Froch, Inkin, all in their primes.

Sorry to shatter your dreams but currently only fighters like Kessler or Mundine would trouble Taylor bigtime at 168. I also give Froch a better shot to beat Taylor (via KO that is) than Bute. Bute needs at least 3-4 fights to prove that he can fight on par with Taylor.

Taylor was MW king, that is a great accomplishment. Thats a great start, better than any of the other guys in MW right now, except for Pavlik.

As for the LHW landscape, why will most of it be gone in the next 12 months? I think right now he has the opportunity to make noise in the big pond if he wants it, or he could try to be big fish in the little pond. I would hope he would go for the challenge.

I look at 168, you have Kessler ducking Miranda , you have Bute who fights nobodies and washed up contenders. There is nothing there.
