While I agree with most of this posting, I don´t agree with the Sturm-Ghevor bit. This was a close fight in which the hometown fighter and champ got the nod. Happens all the time. You can have your oppinion that Ghevor won, personally I thought it was a draw, but it was neither a gift nor a robbery. Hopkins at this time had problems making weight. This was clearly visible, especially when you take into consideration how he looked against Tarver at lhw. I agree completly. Hopkins beat plenty of athletical guys, Tarver for example. Abraham fought the best at his division save Pavlik and Sturm who both didn´t want to fight him. That´s not lousy. Yeah, he is one diminsional. Like Tyson - and no I don´t think he is as good as Tyson ... :verysad
Taylor was a very good, not great fighter who has developed a suspect chin. He's taken some bombs from some heavy punchers and been KO'd in dramatic fashion. But he's been competitive. He has devolved into a stepping stone fighter mostly because those who KO'd him did what they did to him. But he wasn't dominated against Pavlik, Froch or Abraham. Each time out, he's in it and for some reason wears down and ends up catching a fight changer. His career might be over, and while he was never as great as he might have appeared in his prime, he is not the bum recent history has made him out to be. Those guys who beat him can look on it with pride, he was a quality opponent. He seems to always conduct himself with class, in defeat and victory. I hope he retires.
Pretty negative thread, maxime! Did really anyone here claim that Froch was the best supermiddle out there after he had beaten Taylor?? Cant believe it!:scaredas: Both Pavlik and AA had shown very impressive and convincing performances before they beat Taylor.
