well he won a 12 rounder against jeff lacy .it would be possible for him to go up.grnated he lost to pav but he also beat hopkins twice .
Personally I think Chad Dawson poses more problems than Jermain Taylor. If Calzaghes fights on though, itll only be fore the fight which brings him the biggest cheque (and fair enough), I think HBO would prefer Taylor to Dawson (a Showtime fighter). Calzaghe beats them both.
Not an interesting fight. Taylor is coming off two devastating losses. Once he was KTFO, and the second time perhaps even worse, he gets outboxed and pointed by a straight up zombie. A win over Lacy hasn't erased that considering where Lacy is at right now. Plus I don't see any way Taylor can win that fight when his only strengths are his jab and athleticism, Calzaghe easily takes away jabs and is just as physically impressive. Taylor's stamina is also ****, Calzaghe sweeps rounds 9-12. Dawson poses problems that Calzaghe will have to adjust to. Far more interesting and rewarding fight.
Only an idiot like Larry Merchant would suggest Taylor-Calzaghe is viable. What does Taylor bring to the table? Legend? No, World title belts? No, Big name even? No. I bet Merchant took about half an hour to ask Taylor the question as well!
