FYI: August 2017 update on Jermain Taylor:

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Jermain Taylor said Monday he is doing everything he can to get his life in order.

"I'm trying my best to get my life all together, just stay out of trouble," Taylor said.

The Little Rock native and professional boxer is accused of attacking his girlfriend, damaging her phone so she couldn't call 911, biting her several times and chasing her down the road, threatening to kill her.

Taylor, who did not want to provide much detail because it's an ongoing case, said it's been blown out of perspective.

"Everybody makes mistakes. I'm not perfect. I make mistakes all the time, everyday I make mistakes," Taylor said.

Taylor said he feels like he's let The Natural State down.

"I'm sorry to my state of Arkansas, all this negative press I've been getting. It seems like there's nothing positive about me. Here it is, I work everyday, I've been trying to get on top for Arkansas," says Taylor.

The former Middle-Weight Champion says he is working towards getting back in the ring again one day.

"It's what I know, It's what I love. That's how I make my money. That's how I make a living. I haven't been an arena. I've been sued by everybody for child support... I don't have it," says Taylor.

The 39-year-old says he will use his faith to be a better man.

"Get a good relationship with my kids, get closer to God, get back in the ring, win me another championship bring it back to Arkansas," says Taylor

Taylor was in court Monday on battery and terroristic threatening charges. He pleaded not guilty. He will be back in court in December 2017.

His legal problems go back to 2014 where he's accused of shooting his cousin. In 2015, he was arrested after firing a gun near the Marade in Little Rock.

It’s sad, Taylor appears to be a ticking time-bomb. Looking at the stuff he’s done in the past few years, it really doesn’t look like he should be out in society at this point.

Taylor's wins over Hopkins were infinitely more legit than Canelo's draw with Golovkin. But that being said, I think that Canelo catches up with him and breaks him down eventually. Canelo SD or late stoppage.
