Odds for this bout range from 3-1 to 5-1 for Jeff Lacy... However, I see Jermain Taylor as having an 85-90% chance of winning this fight, honestly. Jermain Taylor is BY FAR the superior boxer. So, I see NO CHANCE of a UD for Lacy. Lacy must win by KO. In his last 3 fights, he's won EXTREMELY close decisions vs C level boxers. He's won these decisions w/ out even gettign a KD. His skills have regressed in every fight (since calzaghe) and this can't be improved simply with a brilliant camp leading up to the taylor fight (IMO). ALSO, Lacy WANTS OUT OF BOXING. He made this clear. To me, he views his fight w/ taylor as a 1 million + going away present for him and I think that's why he decided to stay. Based on that, I think his motivation to win this fight is in fact LESS THAN TAYLOR (whose coming off b2b losses vs. Kelly Pavlik). The only hope Lacy bettors have on him I would think is that he's bigger than jermain, stronger than jermain, and sculpted like a greek god. This has led him to being overrated and C level fighters have exposed him in last 3 fights and Calzaghe demolished him (A fighter Jermain Taylor would be competitive with IMO). Anyways, I want to know what Lacy fans or people who give Lacy a CHANCE in this fight see that would favor Jeff over Jermain.
I thought Lacy retired? But i read Dan Rafaels' divisional rankings today and he said Lacy decided to come back. If this fight does happen, i am putting up a ton of money on JT. Lacy has zero chance to win. He has lost his power and that was his only hope.
Yup, zero chance to win...That's how I feel. From watching his 4 fights, despite Lacy's tremendous build, I don't see him as the type of guy who could finish a Jermain Taylor with one punch. And longshots are usually based on that potential 4 a 1 punch KO which I don't see in Lacy. Just a tremendous build which gives people the illusion that he could do such.
I think that is so true. And that gives me even more reason to think he has no chance. Really, this is the type of fight where i might risk homelessness and put it all on JT.
Taylor late TKO. I can't see Lacy handling his speed and boxing skills to well, I think Taylor even has enough power to stop him late on accumilation. This would have been a good matchup 4 years ago, but given Lacy's recent performances you can expect a dominant performance by Jermain.
On our way back to the top and it starts with Jeff. I like Lacy I always root for him but JT is my favorite fighter. We gonna get us a belt and kick Pavliks ass when he comes for it. We got robbed the second time but we wont the third.
Lacy is finished, Taylor is avoiding Froch like the plague. This is just a confidence boost for Taylor, nothing more!
