As soon as guys have a few losses they're done atsch Also anyone calling P Willys chin bad is slow. Not the same yes but still decent. The guy faced brickgloves and lasted plus I've been saying Martinez has decent power despite his ko % for the longest. No one believed me until he ko'd Williams with the perfect shot at the perfect time against a fighter holding his chin up. It was only a matter of time before P Willy's no defense would decline his punch resistance a bit but he's still a top fighter and shut out an okay fighter in Ishida.
Williams is currently number 3 middleweight in the world (and no 1 in America), whereas Taylor is widely agreed to be 42nd best middleweight in the world. It indicates a rather one-sided fight.
There aren't 42 middleweights better than Jermain Taylor, I have no problem with him having to earn his ranking etc, but this is a silly way to assess a fight.
If you look at his overall achievements, than sure, he would be rated much higher. His wins against Hopkins alone, even though they were close decisions, deserve great respect (he exceeded the magical 1000 Boxrec points barrier) But right now? with his losses and inactivity? No. Look at Williams' workrate, Taylor cannot deal with that, cannot win a decision against it. Also Williams has very good punch resistance so Taylor would not win by ko. The numbers never lie, Taylor cannot currently cannot beat Williams.
Not really arguing that, just saying there aren't 42 MW's in the world better than Jermain. And to pick Williams based on #3 vs #42, is flawed logic, IMO.
