All that hype around him that HBO and Dibella built up for Taylor has now utterly ruined his career. They so wanted him to be the Middleweight savior and take over the sport as it's face, that the put him in with BHOP, a good 3-4 fights before he was ready. BHOP showed JT things about himself as a fighter that he never thought were true. He showed him he could be hit, he could be hurt, and that he was essentially a 6 round fighter at the top level. The establishment forged ahead and gave him that terrible decision, and then gave him one in the rematch as well. JT was going to be a star, and they would have done anything to make this happen. But the thing is that they never really tried to correct what was wrong with Taylor. They blamed everything on the trainers, the tough selection of opponents, and all this other BS. But no one could face that he was essentially an average fighter with some natural talent, but without the fortitude of a real champion. Now, after a string of less than good performances and two brutal stoppages, he is nearly a total lost cause. If he is to continue, he must really face some harsh truths about himself as a fighter. That he is not great, that he is not even all that good, and that he must correct his stamina and mental lapses if he is ever to become a top fighter. One thing that last night showed us, is that although JT does have some talent, the hype around him and the continued praising of him as some top level fighter is, and always has been, unwarrented.
The guy beat Bhop twice. Both fights were close and an argument could be made either way. He got the draw with Winky. He is without doubt world class operator with a stamina issue. Even great fighters have flaws. I think people are being to harsh and over critical
Im not sure if I would call Taylor "world class with stamina issues". **** he had trouble beating Cory Spinks, who Zab Judah knocked out. Hell some believe he lost to Spinks who was in a weight class higher than he should have been Im not saying Taylor isnt a good fighter because he is but he is not nor has he ever been world class.
Extremly ! Lets not forget that both fighters regardless of what people think were 2 of the top super middles and the fight was decided in the 12th ..Now all of a sudden Taylor is ruined ??
If Taylor from the get go was shown as the fighter he is, which is someone who is good for the first six rounds but crappy for the last six, more people would see him more favorably, instead of some disappointment. Thats what I think and i think the point of the starter of this thread.
I hate the way that lots of excuses are always made by guys in America when an English or European fighter beats them. Is this just total arrogance or ignorance or both? Taylor is world class without a doubt and as soon as a non American beats him all the ****ing excuses start to surface. The way he was hyped or promoted is just the way it is but to be honest I just think that he never had the right team behind him. Team morale is very important for the fighter. Look at what a change of trainer did for Mosley and also Hatton, I think the fighters corner is just as equally important to their success. I dont think Taylor was ruined by Hopkins, every fighter needs to learn the hard way at some point, it's just the way it is. Taylor is a warrior, anybody who steps into that ring is a warrior. I guess the thread starter has walked in the shoes of Taylor...come on man give a fighter his props.
He was doing sooooo well before he got tired in the middle rounds. Skill for skill he is a better Boxer than Froch but without endurance, you can only go so far. When he went down the first time I was so sad I got teary eyed for the first time ever watching a fight. I really don't know where he'll go from here.
Hopkins is seriously getting the credit now for Jermain's downfall? Wasn't it the Taylor fights that made everyone think Hops was through and why he was an underdog to Tarver? The only way you can say Hopkins ruined Taylor is if Bernard had a voodoo doll of Jermain created and imbued it with the curse of "I'll always let a white boy beat me".
Man I hope no one loses in next weeks fight or someonelse will be washed up,ruined exposed etc !! I really hope that both these 2 meet again a rematch would produce as much fire works ..
You're absolutely right! "Them" and "the establishment" are responsible for sooooo many of the world's problems. I hate those guys with a passion, too; if it weren't for Them, people could finally take responsibility for themselves... but They will never let that happen, those pricks.
