Iim realy rootin for JT in this fight i think hes guna do well hes just gota cover gd when AA comes swinging then pepper him with that jab when he stops.
Maybe back in the 40's and 50's when the mob controlled boxing, but you cannot say that in the last 20 years more corrupt fights have happened in the US than over in europe. Watch any of Valuev's fights if you want evidence.
Really hope that Taylor can pull this off. He comes across as a pretty decent individual and he's got some skills. Don't really rate AA to be honest. I've a feelin that he could be the let down of the tournament. I think one of his biggets assets ie. his size will be somewhat nullified with his move up in weight and that he may struggle. Him and Froch would be a war I would love to see though.
According to Lou Dibella Jermain is working with Mackie Shillstone. That should solve, or at least substantially improve his stamina issues. In general those issues are exagerated by most people. Jermain has fought 12 rounds in 9 fights. That includes 24 rounds with BHop, 12 rounds with Winky, and 12 rounds with Pavlik. In Pavlik's 36 fights only two men have seen the 12th round, and Jermain is one of them. His stamina is not as poor as many people say it is. Taylor represents absolutely everything that troubles Abraham. Ask yourself this question: "If LuJaun Simon could get to AA with jabs, how is he going to stop one of the best jabs in the business?" Height, reach, fast hands, good power, all these things bother Abraham. I realize AA has a reputation for being some kind of iron chinned monster, but that reputation is based on false logic. Abraham/Miranda I, should have been ruled a TKO for Miranda. If you doubt me, go to You-Tube, and watch the video. Miranda is the only puncher Abraham has ever faced. Several of his opponents had KO ratios under 40% against poor opposition. Most others had KO ratios under 50%. Marquez had a KO ratio of 67%, but all his KO's came at 154. He never knocked out a middleweight. Jermain is no KO artist, but trust me, he has enough pop to make Abraham respect him, and might be able to keep Abraham in his shell all night long. Abraham brings nothing to the ring that Jermain has not seen before. Power? The man did quite well against Pavlik and Froch who ain't exactly feather-fisted. Defense? The man fought Winky mother****ing Wright for Christ Sake!! Ring craft? The man holds two wins over Mr Bernard freaking Hopkins! Jermain fought his last 9 fights against current, or recent world champions. The closest thing to a world champion Abraham has seen was Marquez. Doubt me? Go look at their resume's. If Jermain "Bad Intentions" Taylor has anything left in the gas tank, he will hand Arthur Abraham his ass on a boxing glove. If JT is ruined, as many suspect, he'll get knocked out.
If Taylor has worked on his stamina, he has the ability to out box Arthur. But I can't see it myself. I think Abrahams by brutal ko and possibley the last you see of Taylor, If he gets sparked badly again then it will take alot for him to come back from that.
I would think that would make them worse, if anything. Shilstone is a strength specialist. If you pack on more muscle mass, you're going to use up more oxygen, hence DECREASING stamina. Hopefully you're right, but we'll see. Personally, I think Taylor will dominate the early rounds, but when Abraham starts to open up, eventually he'll catch him and knock him out. I'd be absolutely stunned if Abraham keeps his undefeated record though. Even the worst fighter in the tournament is better than Abraham's top comp so far, and other than Taylor (who still has a chance if he can fix his stamina problems) and maybe Ward (who I think will prove to be chinny), there are just a lot of really bad style matchups for Abraham in this tournament (particularly Froch, who I think would dominate Abraham).
I hope not, because he'll still be under contract for two more fights. If that does happen, then I would hope they add Bute to the tournament in his place.
About Shillstone: JT is all wrong at 168. Great big arms and shoulders, and scrawney little legs, et. If Shilstone can rearrange him a little bit, it will effect his stamina because he will be physically more efficient. Right?
I like JT too. But, dude, you sound like a serious apologist for the guy. His stamina issues are quite obvious in his two losses to Pavlik (the first) and Froch. In both cases, he at some point quits throwing the jab with any regularity. (In the Froch fight, it was about round 6 that this occurred.) His jab is as good a defensive weapon as it is an offensive one in that it keeps his opponents on the outside. When he quits throwing it, he starts getting hit. If he can establish and maintain his jab for 12 rounds against Abraham, I like his chances. But if he gets gassed and stops throwing it, it's going to be lights out.
I realize JT does have stamina issues, but people do in fact exagerate there severity. Arthur throws 30 punches in a busy round, and he is not a pressure fighter. I think it is a bit presumptuous, bordering on arrogant, for people to assume that Taylor will have stamina issues in this fight. Abraham has almost nothing in common with the guys who beat JT.
If you thought King Arthur was a beast at 160 its hard to imagine what he'll be like at 168. He also has that unbeaten mentality. If you say JT will outbox him, he may do but that means f*uck all if you cant go 12 rounds, especially against a pressure fighter
