I've just been thinking about the Super 6 and I think it's a real shame that Taylor had to pull out. I think it was the right decision though, but he was such a likeable fighter, the tournament would have been much better, if he had still be in. I'm pretty confident that even this version could have beaten Dirrell and possibly even Ward too. Despite losing his punch resistance after the gruelling fights with Pavlik and Froch, he was still a good boxer and would have caused the younger, inexperienced American's problems. I think the American fighters will come out of the Super 6 looking pretty bad. Ward's headbutts, and it's unusual for so many to be accidental, have caused the end of Kessler's career. Green has talked a lot but didn't show anything at all. Dirrell ran his mouth disgustingly and then delivered one of the worst performances I've ever seen, and then there's the fiasco with the Abraham fight and the subsequent Ward negotiations. Maybe that's why I can't help but think about Taylor: He has always been a proud warrior in the ring, who would fight anyone, anywhere. I think that's been sorely missing from the three other American's so far. I do want to see him fight again because I still don't think he's shot. He just needs careful matchmaking in the future. Even if his career over, it was a pleasure watching him. If America had more fighters like him, the fight game would be more popular over there.
Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of his style either. I just think he has a great attitude that is missing right now. He really was a fighter who wanted to prove he was the best out there and thjose fighters are always what's best for boxing.
Hey Jack-ass, Kessler said it himself his eye problems began during his S6 preparation...before the Ward fight. Your fake ass homage to JT was nothing but another thinly veiled slap at Ward and Dirrell.
He also said that the Ward fight made it worse. I don't even dislike Ward. I dislike Dirrell, sure, but there's plenty of other threads where I can call him the coward and ***** that he is. This is about Taylor but comparisons are inevitable. Taylor would have done the Super 6 proud. Dirrell hasn't. But yeah, this is you playing the victim card again. It's you who has the issue. Stop following me around too.
don't flatter yourself. If i end up in one of your bogus threads and call them for what they are and you want to call it "following you around" then it is what it is. If you are prepared to write bull****, be prepared to be called on it. And to say Ward caused the end of Kessler's career is flat out bull****.
Agree, he was a likable guy, although I would slightly disagree that he has lost his punch resistance, I always thought Taylor had a decent chin, say 7-10, but that he got easier to hurt as the fight wore on, because!, of his questionable stamina.
Definately with you on that , JT one of my favourite boxers , but just seemed to hit a brick wall around the 8 - 10 round region , even against blown up light middles.
Jermain Taylor ALWAYS been overrated. He got lucky against an aging, weight drained Hopkins. He LOST to Winky Wright, a light middleweight. And struggled against a Welterweight in Cory Spinks. Both Ward and Dirrell are miles better then Taylor ever was. The Europeans thought they were good because they were beating up a shot version of an already overrated fighter. Put them in against young but talented American competition and the waxing of the ass began.
