Jermain gave so much to boxing, heard him slurr and have quite the problem making himself clear so him getting out was a good thing. Hope he stays retired, his family needs him more than boxing needs him. Still, he was a humble, dedicated champion, and will always have my utmost respect.
JT is back with Pat Burns, and very recently signed with Golden Boy. I'd like to see him at 160. When I look at the muscled up chest and shoulders, and those little bird legs on Jermain, I think he could make the weight by training like a lunatic and using a good nutritionist. A half decent version of Jermain could beat David Lopez, Roman Karmazin, Sebastain Zbik, Matthew Macklin, and Sebastian Sylester. That's 5 guys off The Ring top 10 at 160 with Sylvester being a world titlist.
Yeah, personally I'd try to match Taylor against opponents who are going to allow him to dictate the pace, try to keep him a way from these consistent, balls to the wall fighters who are going to best testing your stamina throughout the fight.
Taylors has been koed sucessive times, hes not the fighter he once was so id give macklin a decent chance to beat him.out of all the fighters you mentioned he has the best chance
I picked up on it. I just thought I might try to salvage the thread by posting a few facts along with a reasonbly well educated opinion. Ya, ya -- I know! That **** don't fly on ESB!
This is true. I love JT like everyone else but Ward and Dirrell are a class above Taylor. Taylor had way too many flaws. He didn't even know the meaning of lateral movement and his defense was horrible. His defense was pretty much just going straight back and not moving laterally at all. That's why plodders like Froch, AA and Pavlik were able to KO him. He is so easy to hit. He's a great warrior but he was never able to polish his game, most importantly his horrible footwork.
there would be a lot of "overrated" and "exposed" fighters today if they had the resume jermain taylor does.
I dont give a damn about JTs flaws and weaknesses His resume beats anyone in the S6, and he was never afraid to fight the best Nowadays we get these slippery guys like dirrel, floyd etc... that use any excuse in the book to avoid tough fights Now people complain about that, but they also jump to criticise jermain taylor just because they want to hate on someone they can. Bull**** posters
Agreed. I'd like to have seen the finals JT vs. Kessler, as they were my favs. Odd, now they are both out. I think JT should hang em up and move into announcing and commentating. He would be good at that.
